The Information You Didn't Really Want to Know!
[edit]My name is Heather, if you couldn't figure that one out for yourself by looking at the username I chose. I am a freshman at Georgia Southern University which is considered to be a party school, but life is what you make it. And I do not party. I was studying Biology until I realized that I don't really like Biology as much as I thought I did. And so, I will make my first major change to...Marketing! I am also a member of Delta Phi Epsilon. My hobbies include reading, writing, watching too many movies, taking bad pictures, painting, watching clouds, and making things awkward (accidentally of course).
Random facts you didn't really want to know, I'm:
- Left-handed
- Undecided on my minor
- Not old enough to drink, so I don't (not even a little)
- Spunky
- A proud owner of a Volvo (one of the safest cars in America)
- A slight feminist
- The youngest of two (by a lot)
- In love with sugar, but hate salt
- Afraid of heights, but love roller coasters

Contributions
[edit]Here are some of the articles I have created:
Although I haven't created many articles of my own, I do tend to edit lots of articles that I come into contact with. I don't know about you, but when I see a word spelled wrong, I HAVE to fix it.
Eh....Technology
[edit]Technology and I get along fairly decent. I sometimes need time to get used to some new type of program, but then I can work it decently. But, technology annoys me sometimes. Computers are like...a spoiled child. They get everything they want and they still can't follow directions. "Dear computer, please work." "Error." When people tell me to do something, I'll do it, but no, computers don't always do what you ask. And on top of all of that, you have to learn a different language just to communicate with them. Like I said, spoiled.
I also hate it when people abbreviate words. And I hate when people can't spell simple words right, use incorrect punctuation, and the abbreviation "lol." If you talk in abbreviations such as "lol," you should not talk to me.
These are my views on life. What are yours?

Now I'm A Philosopher?
[edit]In my overrated opinion, students should be allowed to cite Wikipedia in their papers. Even though the people who write in Wikipedia are underpaid, and could be anybody, if someone took the time to write about a page, then they must understand something about it. Obviously, a student wouldn't use Wikipedia to cite their college master's paper, but kids in Middle School should be allowed to. Plus, if the information is bad, then anybody and their mother can decide on whether or not to use it.
I frequently use Wikipedia. I was honestly super excited to learn how to create a Wikipedia article correctly in my English class. But, anytime I can't remember something I Google it and Wikipedia is usually the first site that pops up. To write this user page, I used Wikipedia to look up at least six different articles.
I believe that in some way Wikipedia is also a social networking site, because of the profiles, discussions, and how each person is essentially reading someone's blog. Wikipedia is just a smarter version of Facebook. The only aspects that doesn't make Wikipedia a social networking site is the absence of friend invites, and the formal language.
This is what I believe. What do you think?
Life + Wiki = Need For Improvement
[edit]Things that Wikipedia needs to change:
- Spell-check is a must. This user is tired of seeing wrongly spelled words. But, the real question is, why are there pages with misspelled words IN THE TITLE?
- Adding pictures should be easier. People should just allow an encyclopedia to use their pictures without major issues.
- This user agrees with her English Professor, there is no need to call something original research if it's obvious.
- If someone puts a nomination for deletion, then they should give the person in charge of the article a couple of days to fix the problem. If not, then that is harassment and people should be able to file complaints against those types of users.
- Wiki also needs some help with user page spacing. Every time I edit the page; the headers always get scrambled together, which is kind of frustrating. Don't believe me? Check the history and all of the wonderful edits, titled: "spacing."
Languages
[edit]My native language is sarcasm. But, I also speak, read, and write in American English. I can also speak, read, and write minimally in Spanish. I hope to (one day in the DISTANT future) learn French, Italian, and to become a better Spanish speaker.
Movies
[edit]Movies. They are awesome. My favorite genres are Horror and Science Fiction.

Musicals!
[edit]I am one of THOSE people. Some people HATE when there's a song and dance in a movie. Not me. I get super excited. Musicals are AWESOME. And if I could sing, which I can't, then I would be seriously considering a career in Broadway. I have seen the musicals: CATS, The Phantom of the Opera, 42nd Street, Mamma Mia, Monty Python's Spamalot, and Jersey Boys. I hope to one day see Wicked and many others.
But, wouldn't life be better if we all could just break out into a perfectly choreographed dance and sing along with people depending on how their day went? In my opinion, that would be awesome!

Things With Words
[edit]Has anyone noticed how uneducated people are acting, especially young adults? They're proud they don't read. Just because you read doesn't mean you have to be obsessed with it. All I'm asking is for people to not be so proud of their hatred towards others' thoughts. Because essentially, that's what a book is: someone's thoughts gathered and hard work put into a binding.
I love reading. My favorite authors are Jane Austen, Ellen Hopkins, and Sarah Dessen. I read mostly young adult, science fiction, and horror, but I'm up for anything. My current favorite book is The Host by Stephanie Meyer. I enjoyed William Shakespeare in high school. My favorite unassigned work by Shakespeare is Othello. Edgar Allen Poe is probably my favorite author and my favorite work by him is The Tell-Tale Heart. I have also read The Black Cat, The Cask of Amontillado, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Masque of the Red Death, The Oval Portrait, The Pit and the Pendulum, Annabel Lee, Lenore, and The Raven. I secretly wish that a time machine will be made so I can meet Ed and Will.
In the last five years, I have read over 400 different books and still counting. And yes, I do keep a list of the books I read, because when you read like I do, it's almost necessary to keep a list.

My User Page, My Opinions
[edit]Please keep in mind, that the opinions discussed on this page were the views of one, and maybe others. If you do not agree with these opinions, then that's okay. This is why we have two (technically three) separate political parties. This is also why we live in The United States of America, "land of the free," to have opinions. If I have offended you in anyway shape or form, that was not my intention. These were only my opinions.
