The founder, photographer and editor, Pete Davis, is a passionate diver, photojournalist, photographer and author with interests in water sports and travel. 5th Day Images frequently writes articles and supplies images to dive and travel publications and runs educational courses on photography, underwater photography, marine environments and sustainability.

The name is derived from the Christian biblical account of creation and in particular on the 5th day of creation the marine environment was populated with all variety of life.
