TOI-2109b is an exoplanet orbiting the star F-type star TOI-2109. The planet is an ultra-short period planet, completing one orbit around its star every around 16 hours.[1] Due to the extreme proximity from its star, the planet is extremly hot, having a daytime temperature measured at 3631±69 K, which is hotter than the surface temperature of Betelgeuse,[a] and makes it the second-hottest known exoplanet.[1] The planet has a mass of 5.02 MJ and a radius of 1.35 RJ, which makes it a gas giant.[1] The planet was discovered in 2021, by the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite. Its host star is TOI-2109, a F-type star that is about 1.45 times more massive than the Sun, 4.7 times more luminous and has an effective temperature of 6530 K, which is hotter than the Sun.[1] The star, and the planet are located around 860 light-years away, in the constellation Hercules.[1][note 1]
