Where Did Aids Come From?
No one knows for certain how AIDS began. Inhabitants of central Africa were the first people to be diagnosed with AIdS. Many People belive AIDS started in that part of the world and has since become global. Aids has been around for about 46 years. Doctors could not understand why certain people were dying. They soon realised that they people were dying from a new disease. At first there was no consensus as to what kind of disease it was. It was only during 1981 when doctors decided to call this disease AIDS. They alsi discovered Aids was not like any other disease they knew of. AIDS stands for acquired immunodefecieny syndrome. Acquired means something a human can get. Immunodeficiency means having a wweak immune system. Our immune system hepls us fight off illnesses. It hepls us get better when we fall sick. A human with a weak immune system gets sick easily and has a very hard time getting better. Syndrome means having a multiple count of illnesses and not just one. People get AIDS after they have lived with a virus called HIV for many years. HIV is not like the cold or flu germs. You cant catch it from a cough or sneeze. The two main ways of getting HIV are by Sexual intercourse and sharing a needle to use drugs with someone that has HIV. People with HIV dont always know they have HIV. A special blood test shows weather they are HIV positive or HIV negative. The germs that cause a normal flu make you sick in about two days. HIV does not make a person sick for about seven to ten years. HIV keeps replicating itself inside a human body for all those years. A human with AIDS does not get AiDS until his or her immune sytem is tiered and worn out from fighting the HIV. Scientist belive HIV started because of mutation. Mutatiooon is when the smallest part of something, its cells, combine in strange ways. This has led scientist to belive that cells from another virus changed and became a new virus. so many people have been infected with HIV that it has been labeld an epidemic. An epidemic is when a disease spreads very quickly, making alot of people sick in a short period of time. People with HIV can take good care of themselves. They can survive with HIV for a long time. Once HIV becomes AIDS, its harder for a to stay healthy. Diseases are always scary. But the more we learn about a disease, the less scared a person begins to feel. Knowledge about AIDS is the First step in keeping yourself healthy. It is also the first step in helping people with AIDS.
