User:2003graduate

I mainly edit the Agnes Scott College (ASC) page. I graduated from there in 2003 and still love it very much. I've searched through many college pages, picking out things that I like and don't like. Someday, ASC's page will live up to my standards.

Here are things I find annoying with college/university wikipedia pages:

Listing and describing every building on your campus: I find myself skipping over this boring section.
Listing every major: You can major in English at your school? Wow! Why don't you just list the ones that aren't common among most schools.
Copying paragraphs word for word from your college website: I admit it's difficult to resist the temptation, but sometimes it's way too obvious and artificial sounding. You might as well just write it in your own words.
Mean-spirited comments: If you don't like a school, keep it to yourself!

Here are things I love about certain college wikipedia pages:

Good info in the typical sections: history, student life, notable alumnae, etc.
Good descriptions of a school's traditions: I love reading the history behind them.
Strong lists of notable alumnae and professors: Make me proud of your school!
Pages written by people who've attended that school: The level of detail is so much better when a previous student writes the page. There are usually some interesting facts thrown in that you can never get from the college's website.
Pictures, pictures, pictures!
Up-to-date info on the good and bad: If your school makes national headlines, the specifics should be posted.
Healthy discussion sections in which people post questions, possible additions, and other info: It's nice to know someone else is reading the page (Sometimes it gets lonely knowing you're the only one editing a page!)
