Product overview
[edit]Citrix Workspace has been the flagship product for Citrix Systems since its release in 2018.[1][2][3] The product is an information retrieval service where users can access programs and files remotely through a central application or web browser.[4][5] In addition to virtual apps and desktops, Citrix Workspace services include Citrix Endpoint Management, Citrix Content Collaboration,[6] Citrix Access Control,[7] intelligent capabilities,[3] and security features.[6][7]
Citrix Workspace app (formerly Citrix Receiver),[8] is client software that allows access to all a user's files and apps from one interface. This includes mobile files and desktops, in addition to SaaS and virtual apps.[9]
Citrix Workspace app replaced Citrix Receiver, which was the client component of Citrix products XenDesktop and XenApp.[10] It was released initially in 2009; devices with Receiver installed were able to access full desktops via XenDesktop or individual applications via XenApp from a centralized host, such as a server or cloud infrastructure.[11] The product's intended users were employees of businesses and organizations.[12] Prior to Receiver, Citrix had a different client for each of its products. The company developed Receiver to handle the management of those clients.[13]
