About me

[edit]

I am a running start student who is majoring in biology. As someone with type 1 diabetes, I want to go into endocrinology as my future career. An endocrinologist is a doctor in medicine that specializes in the study of hormones which are produced and secreted by the endocrine glands.[1] They also specialize working and consoling patients with diabetes. This is what I hope to specialize in when I get more into my dream career. As a hobby, I love to run with groups of people, so a sport I love doing is cross country and long distance in track and field.

Wikipedia Interests

[edit]

I love learning more about the topics I'm committed to. To learn more about how to work as an endocrinologist, or learning more about the human body system itself is fascinating. Even though I have three books alone on the human body system, there is still so much new information that can be absorbed about each system in the body. I may have signed up and began using Wikipedia for my college English class, but there are many different articles that many people have made that I can use to learn more about the topics I'm committed to. For example, mindset can have a huge impact on a person. In psychology, mindset plays a critical role in what people can achieve.[2]

Article Evaluation

[edit]

As someone that spends a lot of time watching movies, Real Steel was one of my favorites since released in theaters in 2011.That said, I'm curious as to what information is given on Wikipedia about this movie and how well that article was made. I visited the Real Steel article on Wikipedia, and three aspects that are worth being mentioned is that, first of all, there is a lot of good information being brought up, also that the article is still being brought up to date by other users, and finally there are only a few errors of information that needs to be corrected.

Additional Information

[edit]

I was very surprised to see how much information with given citations there was written in the Wikipedia article about Real Steel. I initially thought this movie was too unknown to be recognized. Reading this article, however, proved me wrong by adding many other wiki links and other articles as evidence. They not only give a summary of the movie but showing awards that actors were nominated for and won. There was information on each song that was played in the film while giving the artist and the length of each song. The most surprising information I was able to find in the article was the potential talk of a sequel and the co-stars they want to have for the next film. They even have information about the video games that were made based on Real Steel. Even though, their sources need to be updated the iPhone games[3] do exist and are still available in the app store.

Activity on the Article

[edit]

When checking when the article was last updated it was very recently as of the 8th of October 2022. And this year there have been quite a few other users that are still correcting this article's errors. From the first time I checked the article there were a couple of outdated sources and small grammar mistakes, however looking back at what people have changed and when the article was last edited, there were people that had fixed a few of those.

Updating Sources

[edit]

Although there is a lot of good information that is still true, there are small mistakes when clicking on the links to some of the sources. For example, as I said when the article was bringing up the video games based on Real Steel, the information is still true with other useful sources that aren't dead articles. Furthermore, when this article talks about critic reviews I went through there were only small errors in how many critics rated the film. However, the Real Steel article says that 233 critics were rating the rotten tomatoes percentage. But, from then to now there are 235 critic reviews[4], which doesn't even change the percentage.

Conclusion

[edit]

In conclusion, I thought the article was good. It had good information not only about the plot but the soundtrack, the score, the video games based on the movie, and the actors in addition to the visual effect crew's nominees and awards they won. Also, there was still quite a bit of activity on the article fixing errors and trying to keep it up-to-date. Finally, the only criticism I have, would be to fix dead citations and the small mistake in the number of critics.
