About Me
[edit]Greetings!
I've let this page stagnate for a long while, but since I've become a bit more active on Wikipedia, I thought I'd flesh it out a bit. :)
My name's Tim, and I'm a website developer and freelance multimedia artist from Perth, West Australia. I have a great many interests in IT and computing, and these stem from software engineering to website development, as well as 3D animation and other multimedia.
My current full-time employment is at Edith Cowan University as a web/multimedia developer. Officially, I develop and maintain internal sites for organizations on campus, including my own faculty, as well as any upcoming events. I also handle various IT Tech Support issues that arise, and am also in charge of handling any multimedia requests that come through our faculty including recording of presentations and conversion and distribution of media.
Outside of my work, I have lots of hobbies, including making game mods with friends, developing my own websites, blogging as well as good old video games. Off the computer, I have a passion for studying Japanese (after my family moved there for 6 months when I was little) and playing squash and badminton.
My stance on editing/contributing to Wikipedia
[edit]As my possible interests have come into play before, I would like to be as transparent as possible on my intentions when editing Wikipedia.
I love Wikipedia. It's my first stop for most information I research on the internet. And, if I had more time, I would love to spend it contributing more to articles in my fields of expertise.
That being said, I fully understand the neutral nature of content that is written to Wikipedia.
In my official capacity as an employee of Edith Cowan University, which includes possible bias, I have resolved not to edit or contribute to any of its content pages. In all of my own personal projects, as I've assumed that none have the necessary exposure to qualify for an article here, I haven't even considered writing anything on them before.
However, I do believe in the integrity and relevance of information in a particular article. If I see information edited or removed from an article that I believe ultimately decreases the value of that article, then it is my own belief in that, that I would press to have it restored.
I would like anyone questioning that to believe that I have no ulterior motives. If needed, I have no problems with completely explaining my own position and circumstances in that pursuit.
