Menashe Lustig is the pen-name of Moshe Mordecai Loeffler. He is a comedian, actor, writer, script writer in Yiddish, known for his video Clips and lengthy, mostly satirical written articles.
Menashe was born March 16, 1978, in New Square, New York, where he was raised. He is a follower of the Skvere Chassidic movement, as is well-known Chassidic singer Lipa Schmeltzer. He was married in June 2001, in Stamford Hill London, and several years later in February 2008, became a widower when his wife suddenly passed away. He then returned with his four year old son to his hometown of New Square.
Lustig worked as a model for some time before achieving notoriety in the Chassidic world for his video clips and articles which portray Chassidic life in a comedic light. He is probably best known for his (relatively lengthy) "Hatzoloh" routine, in which he plays a patient needing medical care from the Williamsburg Hatzoloh EMS service.
Due partly to restrictions in the Chassidic world on viewing comedy and movies from non-Jewish sources, artists such as Lustig can quickly gain notoriety within their communities, and often perform both live and recorded acts. Besides live and written work, several of Lustig's best-known routines have been released on video and through his YouTube channel.
