Bashneft – Ufimsky refinery plant is one of the most up-to-date oil refineries in Russia which can produce a wide range of petroleum products.[2]

The refinery's workflow uses highly efficient thermic, catalytic, and hydrogenation processes. The refinery's equipment produces Euro-4 and Euro-5 fuels, boiler fuel, and a liquefied gases.

To achieve 100% output of Euro-4 and Euro-5 gasoline, a catalytic cracking gasoline hydrotreater for removal of sulfur compounds is under constructed.

The authorized capital of JSC Ufa Refinery is RUB 619,277 million(2020).[3]

The feedstock for processing is mainly West Siberian oil (about 50%), Bashkir oil (about 40%), and 10% gas condensate.[4]

History

[edit]

Plant construction began in 1935; it officially opened in 1937, following the opening of the stone refinery in 1936.[5]

In 1938, the plant produced its first 117 tons of racing oil; in 1939, the first stage of the plant was completed; in the late 1940s, the second stage (combined pyrolysis plant, sulfate phenol refining and bitumen plant) and the third stage (gas fractionation, polymerization and hydrogenation) were in operation. During the Great Patriotic War, the plants supplied fuel to the front.

After the war, industrial development of new technological processes, such as catalytic cracking, hydrogenation and production of alumino-silicate catalysts began.

In 1959, high-sulfur oil was processed for the first time in the USSR. In the 1970s the plant was restructured and catalytic reforming plant L-35-5, GIPH-105 for the production of copper-chromium catalysts, inert gas, and elemental sulfur were built to increase capacity and improve quality.

Between 1970 and 1975, the ELOU-AVT-6 technical hydrogen production unit and the diesel fuel hydrogenation unit were commissioned; from 1980-1985, condensate from the Orenburg and Karachaganak gas fields was processed for the first time in Bashkiria. Dring this period the new Komsomol settlement (formerly known as 'Camp 5') was found to be within the sanitary zone, 3 km from the new refinery location, and in accordance with the norms of the Ministry of Petroleum Industry, the plant evacuated the population to a safer place.

The plant has been part of the Bashkir Petrochemical Company since 1994.[6] In 1995, to replace obsolete equipment, the G-43-107M/1 contact cracking complex was introduced to increase the depth of oil refining and produce high-octane gasoline. In 2008 an isomerization unit for pentane-hexane fractions was built according to a scheme involving hexane recycling Isomalk-2 technology.[7]

The plant ranked 319th in the list of largest companies in 2009.

21st century

[edit]

JSC Ufa Refinery was restructured under JSC ANC Bashneft in 2012.[3]

The share capital of JSC Ufa Refinery amounted to 619.277 million rubles (for 2020).[8]

The raw materials supplied to the plant for processing are mainly oil from Western Siberia (about 50%), Bashkiria (about 40%) and 10% of the raw materials are natural-gas condensate.[9]
