"The Eagle Flies Alone" is a song recorded by Swedish melodic death metal band Arch Enemy. It was released worldwide as a single on 25 August 2017 via digital download and streaming as the second single from their tenth studio album Will to Power.

"The Eagle Flies Alone" was the second single to be released from the band's tenth studio album Will to Power, and the final single before the album was released on 8 September 2017. Guitarist and composer Michael Amott reported that the track was written while he was in Mexico. [1]

Lyrical content

While discussing "The Eagle Flies Alone" in a track-by-track video detailing the songs from Will to Power, vocalist Alissa White-Gluz explained that the song, written by guitarist Michael Amott, "is about celebrating individualism, it also ties in strongly with Nietzsche's [...] comprehensive approach to nihilism, which is embracing individuality, accepting suffering as a [...] path to growth".[2]

Music video

The music video for the song premiered on 25 August 2017, a few hours after the track was released worldwide. As of November 2024, the video, directed by long-time collaborator Patric Ullaeus has amassed more than 105 million views on YouTube, and is the most viewed Arch Enemy music video of all time. The video reached the milestone of 100 million views on 31 January 2024.[3]
