Text and Image: Essential Problems in Art History is an international biannual peer-reviewed online academic journal established in the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, Ukraine. [1]
The first issue came out in 2016, a year after the establishment of the Department of Art History at the History Faculty in the above-mentioned university.[2]
The journal aims for establishing a communication between art historians and researchers of "art in its historical and cultural context"; the main focus of the journal are the "problems of the interaction between the visual image and the historical narrative". The journals content is not limited to the specific cultures, areas or time periods.[1]
As of 2024, the editor-in-chief is Gennadii Kazakevych; other than Ukraine, the editorial board includes editors from Poland, France, Spain, Czech Republic, USA, Austria and UK.[3]
