Terrance Brooks is an American football cornerback for the Illinois Fighting Illini. He previously played for the Texas Longhorns.

Early life and high school

Brooks attended high school at Little Elm.[1] Coming out of high school, Brooks was rated as a four star recurit, the 8th best cornerback, and the 59th overall prospect in the class of 2022.[2] Brooks also held offers from school such as Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, California, Clemson, Colorado, FIU, Florida, Georgia Tech, Houston, Illinois State, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, LSU, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ole Miss, Oregon, Penn State, SMU, TCU, Texas, Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Tulsa, UNLV, Utah, Virginia, Washington, Wisconsin and Yale.[3] Brooks initially decided to commit to play college football for the Ohio State Buckeyes.[4][5] However, Brooks decided to flip his commitment to play for the Texas Longhorns.[6][7]

During the 2022 season, Brooks played in nine games while making three starts for the Longhorns where he tallied nine tackles and three pass deflections.[8] During the 2023 season, Brooks played in all 14 games for Texas while making 13 starts where tallied 20 tackles, six pass deflections, and three interceptions.[9] For his performance in the 2023 season, Brooks was named a honorable mention all Big-12 selection.[10] After the conclusion of the 2023 season, Brooks decided to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.[11][12]

On May 12, 2024, Brooks announced that he would transfer to Illinois.[13]
