Why Asia?

[edit]

Why is 'Middle Eastern cinema' under 'Asian cinema'? These two are totally seperate. Madder 02:17, 27 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Because the majority of the Middle East is in the continent of Asia. The article was originally called Southwest Asian cinema to fit in with the other regional / continental cinema articles (see the Southwest Asia article). However, it was decided that this should be changed to the more common term "Middle Eastern" so the article was moved.
If the Middle East is not classed as Asia, what is it classed as? I.e. which continent do we put it under? As long as any Cinema of Egypt article is included under African cinema, I would expect the cinema output of other countries in the Middle East to be included under Asian cinema.
