Animated image and non-free logo
Two points:
- The animated horse image is rather unprofessional and annoying.
- I don't think the Pixar logo can legally be used on this template. This should probably be brought up at WP:IMAGEHELP.
Wulf (talk) 21:44, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
- I think you may be right on both counts. Could you find better alternatives? You should find the parameter easily by looking at the code, but let me know if I can help. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 22:24, 14 March 2009 (UTC)
- If you look at the file page for the Pixar image it appears to be ineligible for copyright, so I don't think there's an issue there (though it is pretty much unreadable in the banner). While I have no personal opinion on the running horse, it is animated (and thus appropriate to the WikiProject) and a featured image. PC78 (talk) 00:08, 15 March 2009 (UTC)
- I agree with PC78. Powergate92Talk 20:25, 16 March 2009 (UTC)
- The Pixar logo may be ineligible for copyright, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t trademarked… —Wulf (talk) 11:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)
- I don’t think there’s any alternative to the Pixar logo, so it should just be gotten rid of. Can’t think of a replacement for the animated horse at the moment… —Wulf (talk) 11:48, 18 March 2009 (UTC)

- The Pixar image looks perfectly OK with regard to copyright and trademark issues, and if it wasn't then it's something that would need to be discussed at the file page, not here, though I do reiterate my earlier concern that it's barely readable in this banner. Opinions on the horse image seem rather subjective, but again, it's a Featured Picture and appropriate in the context of the WikiProject. PC78 (talk) 17:24, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Protected
I've protected this highly visible template. Please carry out your experiments in the /sandbox and use {{editprotected}} when there is consensus for change. I would suggest consulting Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation before making any major change. Making frequent changes to highly transcluded templates has implications for the job queue. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:34, 28 March 2011 (UTC)
- Thank for your information MSGJ, I've been adding parameters myself, including the peer review parameter for our peer review department of WP:ANIMATION and the selected article parameters for the Animation portal of the project. I've been trying hard to get the Animation WikiProject rebooting since the project has been almost inactive by adding guidelines to ensure editors who work animation-related articles and peer review department and added new work groups including European animation, World Animation, Computer animation, Stop motion, Animation people, Looney Tunes and Nicktoons work group to try to attract new members of the project. So far, this project has been going slowly like WP:HORROR and WP:CHILE which had been almost inactive. I've have also added a B-Class checklist, to ensure editors to assess against the 6 point B-Class criteria like {{WikiProject Food and drink}}, {{WikiProject Apple Inc.}} and {{WikiProject Anime and manga}}. I've been also editing project banner to much, your're right it doesn't need to change for a day. I've will be carry out experiments to the sandbox myself add the Pixar logo for the Pixar work group and the Nicktoons logo (without copyright) for the Nicktoons work group. Think for your time. New request

I have added some work groups and a A-Class parameter at Template:WikiProject Animation/sandbox which were some of the WikiProjects converted into work groups, like WikiProject Cartoon Network, including task forces like Adult Swim, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, and Ben 10 have been converted into work groups which were inactive. It is a request if you please add the changes that I have made from Template:WikiProject Animation/sandbox and paste them from the start. Thanks! JJ98 (Talk) 09:49, 26 May 2011 (UTC)
- Done. "This article has been marked that ..." is rather awkward phrasing. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 08:19, 27 May 2011 (UTC)

New changes
I have made some changes and created Template:WikiProject Animation/work group text myself for each work groups for the project banner at Template:WikiProject Animation/sandbox so each work groups is supported, as part of WikiProject Animation, including some portals that I've remove myself. It is request if you please make changes that I've made from Template:WikiProject Animation/sandbox. Thanks! JJ98 (Talk) 05:42, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- ... marked as describing as a work or element of fiction ... — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:32, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I've made that myself just ensure editors to provide real world coverage and to ensure to have non-fiction prescriptive for animation related articles. It is almost very similar to the WikiProject Comics banner which fiction parameter. JJ98 (Talk) 20:39, 5 June 2011 (UTC)
- It was the grammar that I was questioning. I think you have an extra "as" in there. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 20:49, 5 June 2011 (UTC)

Why don't you put the parser functions for importance on Template:WikiProject Animation/work group text instead of repeating them many times in the template? It seems a bit messy and inefficient. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 19:53, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- As noted, I have removed the Template:WikiProject Animation/work group text template. I will add any importance someday, but for now, I am going at the sandbox myself. The Template:WikiProject Animation/work group text doesn't have any importance. JJ98 (Talk) 20:12, 7 June 2011 (UTC)
- I have nothing against that subtemplate - you may notice that I created something similar in the past at Template:WikiProject Canada/TFtext. I was just suggesting that you could make the code more efficient by putting the "importance" parser function into there rather than repeating them multiple times in the main template. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:11, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, no, I don't know how make codes myself. So I removed Template:WikiProject Animation/work group text and speedy deleted it. And yes, I began working on a banner and remove some of codes and added some importance to banner, and including World animation and Stop motion work group. And I don't think that Template:WikiProject Animation/work group text is not necessary for the banner. JJ98 (Talk) 19:56, 11 June 2011 (UTC)

- JJ, archiving our discussion and then replacing your request is effectively the same as deleting my comments! So I have restored them. I am not trying to make life hard for you, just giving you constructive criticism and declining to make a change which seemed to be retrograde. Please be willing to discuss your changes. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 13:08, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- Well, I have made and added several new 13 animation discs that added I've from Commons, like File:Wiki animation disc.svg, File:Animation disc world.svg, File:Animation disc P vip.svg and File:Animation disc CN.svg which I made from Inkscape myself using with File:Animation disc.svg. Although it is fairly simple, but it work correctly. JJ98 (Talk) 18:38, 10 June 2011 (UTC)
- Also note, I've added the merge and split parameter at the sandbox, similar to WikiProject Anime and manga banner which it uses, which it does not use the WPBannerMeta template, like WikiProject U.S Roads and WikiProject Military History, and I've added the selected list and selected picture parameter to the template for the Animation portal. Please change the banner that I've made changes from the Template:WikiProject Animation/sandbox and short all the work groups alphabetically, and also, add Animated films and DreamWorks Animation work group and remove all importance from work groups, including the Cartoon Network portal. Thanks. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 01:30, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation/DreamWorks Animation work group does not have any participants, so I do not understand the purpose of creating it. Has this been discussed with the WikiProject? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 12:23, 4 July 2011 (UTC)
- Well no, I've created it myself to help get WP:ANIMATION going since the project had been almost inactive like WikiProject Horror. There are no discussions on our the talk page. I've started all the work groups back in November through March before you protected the template. I've could have been administrator myself to edit the banner. Please change the banner and add two work groups including Machinima work group and SpongeBob SquarePants work group, which I've added and made changes myself from the sandbox. - Okay, I was just busy working around the banner, removing Hanna-Barbera and Cartoon Network articles and Looney Tunes and Warner Bros. Animation articles which are deem unnecessary from the banner, including spending around messing with code, changing images, and converted two inactive animation-related WikiProjects into work groups like WikiProject Machinima which had been both inactive since 2008 and WikiProject SpongeBob SquarePants which had been inactive and had been a task force of WikiProject Nickelodeon once. I think done here for right now. You can go head and change the banner from the sandbox. Regards, JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 10:07, 20 August 2011 (UTC)

Some fixes

There is a little bug issues for the banner, the banner is little bit buggy once I add {{WikiProject Animation|Canadian-animation=yes|infobox=yes}}
to the talk page, and mistakenly adds Category:Ben 10 articles needing infoboxes on the banner.

Please change the banner and add 6-point B-Class checklist criteria in the banner. In addition, I've remove all to-do lists and added selectedarticle to selectedanniversary parameters for the animation portal, which I've made at the sandbox myself. Thank for your time. Regards, JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 20:36, 27 October 2011 (UTC)
- On 11 October you requested the removal of the B-class checklist (see #Requested chnage above) because you said it wasn't necessary for the project. Why are you now requesting it be re-added, and where is the discussion among WikiProject Animation members about this issue? — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 11:55, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- No, there were no discussions on our project. First, since you protected this template, I am not very happy with you, while I am been busy adding new checklist and work groups under WP:ANIMATION back in November. I've could have been an admin myself. The checklist is for is intended for 6 B-Class criteria, just like WikiProject Horror and WikiProject Anime and manga. I've been trying hard to replace images with animation discs for each work groups and parameters to attract new members, so far, this project has been slow like WP:COMICS and WP:HORROR. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 19:50, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Seems a bit odd to remove the B-class checklist, just to add it back again 16 days later. -- WOSlinker (talk) 20:03, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Yes, I know that, I been spent around working and revamping WikiProject Animation which had been almost inactive like WikiProject United States and WikiProject Companies, including my interview at the Signpost back in August. For example, I've converted WikiProject American Animation into a work group back 2010 which had been inactive since 2008, along WikiProject Warner Bros. Animation which I've also converted while I been spending time working on the banner, just like Kumioko pulled some projects under WikiProject United States, along with the B-Class checklist back in December 2010, to model after WikiProject Apple Inc., WikiProject Horror, WikiProject Comics and WikiProject Anime and manga. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 23:42, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, its been two days since I've made a requested change, please add a B-Class checklist, work group text template, and also, a change from MAIN_ARTICLE to MAIN_TEXT, added selected-article to selected-anniversary note parameters for the animation portal and remove all to-do list hooks from the sandbox, no new note or work group parameters needed. I am getting very tired of waiting a week to get a change needed, due my real life, because it needs a admin to do it. The importance phaser function should work correctly like the WikiProject California and WikiProject Medicine banner, which I've tested it at the testcases. Thanks. - Seems a bit odd to remove the B-class checklist, just to add it back again 16 days later. -- WOSlinker (talk) 20:03, 28 October 2011 (UTC)
Hello? Can someone please change the banner from the sandbox? Also, drop from full to semi protection. I am still very tried of waiting for an admin to change it. I am done here for now. Thanks. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 08:14, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Not done. You seem to be using this template as your plaything, rather than to improve the encyclopedia. To keep adjusting the template for no apparent reason every few days is a waste of our time and yours. There is also no demonstable consensus for this change and no discussion with the relevant WikiProject so I am declining this edit. Please work on some articles or help improve templates which actually need improving. Thanks — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:56, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Sigh* Fine, I am still not very happy with you with it. I can't let this project die like that. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 18:54, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
Requesting change

Please change the banner and add selected-article to selected-anniversary parameters for the animation portal, B-Class checklist, remove all to-do list hooks, including each work groups, add work group text that I've created, which I've made from the sandbox myself. Thanks. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 20:06, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- I've copied over the updated icon changes from the sandbox. For the B-Class checklist, since it was just recently removed, am reluctant to just add it back. However, if there was a consensus within the project that having a B-Class checklist was a good thing that I'll add it back. I look forward to seeing a post on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Animation about that. As for the other changes, I'll leave for others to ponder. (Also worth looking at the talk page archives for previous requests). -- WOSlinker (talk) 20:15, 1 November 2011 (UTC)
- Alright, I will notify project and all work groups in the project. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 20:42, 1 November 2011 (UTC)

This banner is little confusing and buggy when |warner-bros-animation=yes
enabled on the banner, since I thought that each Warner Bros. Animation articles was tagged by the Web animation work group. It is requested to please fix from:
|TF_10_LINK = Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation/Warner Bros. Animation work group |TF_10_NAME = the Web animation work group
to:
|TF_10_LINK = Wikipedia:WikiProject Animation/Warner Bros. Animation work group |TF_10_NAME = the Warner Bros. Animation work group
To fix issues that are not part of this work group. Thanks. JJ98 (Talk / Contributions) 04:59, 21 November 2011 (UTC)
