Image

[edit]

I almost had a stroke when I saw Image:WikiGnome.png creepy image in my userbox list. Too bad about the copyright issues with the old one Image:Wikignome.jpg. I'll keep my eye out for another possible replacement. — MrDolomite | Talk 19:26, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A Brownie image by Palmer Cox

My guess would be that the original image does indeed come from the hand of Palmer Cox who died in 1924. See this image for comparison. According to an image description page on Commons, the original image should come from Palmer Cox: "Brownies through the Union", p. 39 (1895). Could somebody double check this? WikiGnome capitals

[edit]

I've changed the WikiGome capitals on this userbox according to the Wikipedia article. I wonder, should the category be renamed as well? Michaelas10 (T|C) 20:49, 27 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The new gnome image

[edit]
The WikiGnome

I've added a new gnome image as an option and changed the default image to the one of the new gnome because the users could identify the gnome more easily in the new image than the gnome in the previous default image. TheCuriousGnome (talk) 07:48, 9 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Inconsistency with other userboxes

[edit]

This userbox gives the main field a white background. But Template:User wikipedia/WikiFairy and Template:User wikipedia/WikiElf both use a light beige background and a brown border, and they have the text left-aligned rather than centered. Because this template is used on more than 2300 userpages, I'm a bit wary of changing it. But what do others think? Should we have a different box to match the style of the others? Change this one? Here's some testing of what it would look like when I tried to change it in a draft template:
