I am an editor who uses this userbox template on my user page. I pretty much hate the way it looks, because of the ruby. It just makes the whole thing look a mess, because of the weird spacing, and the fact that the ruby point size is the same, or roughly the same, as the main text (while proper ruby should be considerably smaller). I don't believe there is any need to use kanji here to "help" people understand what is said. Look at other language babel boxes. None of them use ruby to help explain the meaning to people in other language groups (at least I can't find any). I suppose the desire to put kanji here is to "help" the Japanese speakers who don't understand Okinawan to make a bit more sense of it. I say: No need. It just looks a mess. There is no standardized orthography for Ok, but when it is written, it tends to be in hiragana, to my knowledge, so just hiragana should be fine. What I would do however, is put spaces between the words, which of course is not standard in Jpn writing, but this is not Jpn, so maybe this is the help Jpn speakers need to parse it a little. I will wait a month or so for others to discuss here, and if there is no discussion, I will go ahead and make the change, both here and the ryu-2 template.
