Color problems on the template
[edit]The colors on the template, as currently being edit warred over, are terrible in either version.
The top and bottom bars of this template are virtually unreadable. I am not color blind and have no visual acuity problems. Yet, I find it difficult to read the text in either color version. If you're color blind, you wouldn't be able to read these at all, or read the text in the red boxes on the left. Regardless of what the school colors are, this template needs to be updated to be readable. --Hammersoft (talk) 21:50, 18 December 2008 (UTC)
- I have no problems reading it with the true colors of the University, but if there are others who have problems, the template background can always be changed to white. Rtr10 (talk) 03:08, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
- Take a look at [3]. Punch in #000286 and #CE1126. Result: 2.8:1 contrast ratio. Note Web Content Accessibility Guidelines at the top of the page, echoing the W3C standards that minimum accepted contrast is 4.5:1 for regular sized text (which is what this template is) or 3:1 for large sized text. This template fails. The colors are not sufficient contrast. I can read it fine too, but the contrast is miserably low. With this in mind, I've changed text color on the colored backgrounds to white, which produces contrasts of 5.6:1 for the white on red background, and 15.5:1 for the white on blue. Considerably more readable. --Hammersoft (talk) 20:30, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
