Purpose
[edit]This series navigation box arose from a recent discussion at Talk:The Co-operative Group#Co-op Template / Nav box. It still needs some help with finishing touches, such as colour selection, and refinement of the list of members of the series.
The rationale for membership in the series is that it should be the main article for a co-operative owned by consumers, providing a consumer product or service. It seemed unhelpful to include subsidiaries of The Co-operative Group Limited, as they have Template:Co-operative Group. I think that only articles that exist in Wikipedia should be included, so as you create new articles, you should add them to the template, and add the template to the very bottom of the article (below the External Links section.)
To avoid wordy repetition, I have hidden any uses of the words "co-operative", "society" and "limited" at the end of the article titles, except for Phone Co-op, the exception that proves the rule.

Note that the template is also restricted to currently trading co-operatives, and also excludes credit unions and building societies. The exclusion of subsidiaries and defunct co-operatives makes the scope much smaller than Category:Consumer Co-operatives of the United Kingdom --Hroðulf (or Hrothulf) (Talk) 13:28, 11 August 2008 (UTC)
