numbers
[edit]Did the UK begin skipping numbers or are some of the defunct agencies "missing"? --216.75.93.110 12:48, 10 August 2006 (UTC)
Both.13 and 18 seem to have been skipped. --Henrygb 10:12, 19 September 2006 (UTC)
I asked the same question on the categories, but then I went down both the articles and one of them reports that MI13 and MI18 are officially reported to have gone unused. Seems strange to me, probably the english are either keeping them secret, or wants us to think they've got something they're keeping secret. I'd bet on the latter. Reminds me of a time a mate of mine pulled a prank in Uni, yeah? and he got 3 pigs together, on the first two pig's backs he wrote the numbers 1 and 2, and then on the back of the third pig he wrote a 4, so he had the bloody blokes looking all around the school for a third pig that never existed! (unsigned comment)
Perhaps, but judging from the list at MI numbers there might be some merit in at least MI13. If MI18 did not exist, there could be an article about it explaining the theories surrounding its ommittance. I've added both. László 16:59, 22 March 2007 (UTC)
- I have some theories. MI13 was probably skipped due to superstition. If you look at MI19, you'll see that they had MI1 through 17(except 13) then MI19 broke off from MI9. So, perhaps because it was from MI9 they made it MI19 and MI18 was never omitted purposefully (MI17 may have been omitted as well had there only been 1-16). Al9d9 (talk) 04:13, 7 June 2012 (UTC)
Secret Intelligence Australia
[edit]does a link to this article belong in this template. Hossen27 09:41, 11 November 2006 (UTC)
- As it was ultimately accountable to the British Government, I think it probably should. « Keith t/e» 12:36, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- I would have thought anything like that belonged in Template:Australian intelligence agencies --Henrygb 17:50, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- Depends, is this template about British intelligence agencies (agencies accountable to the United Kingdom) or intelligence agencies which operate in the United Kingdom? « Keith t/e» 17:57, 12 January 2007 (UTC)
- It is for intelligence agencies which are part of the British government, operating out of the UK. I would see Secret Intelligence Australia as part of Allied Intelligence Bureau and so Australian.--Henrygb 01:08, 28 January 2007 (UTC)

Agencies listed
[edit]Hi, I'm just wondering about the agencies listed in this template. If you have a look at http://www.intelligence.gov.uk/publications/documents/national_intelligence_booklet.pdf you will see that SOCA is not listed alongside the other organisations, it's listed with HM Revenue and Customs. Also JTAC is listed as a main agency.
However, it is important to note that this grouping seems to be based on whether the organisation is funded from the Single Intelligence Account.
Any suggestions? 80.189.24.238 10:53, 12 April 2007 (UTC)
MI numbers
[edit]There were two more MIs not listed on the template. MIR was originally (WW1) for Russia, Siberia, Central Asia, Persia, Afghanistan, China, Japan, Siam and India[1] and MIL (WW2) was for attaches[2] (military intelligence attaches from allied countries?). 59.167.46.18 (talk) 13:06, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- There are two unused numbers as well... MI13 and MI18... one wonders if the two are related. 65.95.14.96 (talk) 22:08, 19 February 2011 (UTC)
