Future proofing - Add note for 2020

Suggestion - how about a note for the 2020 tournament to say "held in 2021" - sure it's obvious now, but as we get further away from 2021, it will ebcome less obvious. This in my view would be similar to the note for Template:FIFA World Cup for the 1950 final, where it's noted that that wasn't technically a final it was just the last game of the group stage and ended up deciding the tournament. 141.92.129.42 (talk) 13:42, 12 July 2021 (UTC)

UK vs. listing all home nations

You have now reverted "United Kingdom" six times, so before you revert it a 7th time, you should list your arguments here.

My arguments for calling it "United Kingdom" is:

1) The bid to host was called "UK & Ireland" : UK and Ireland bid for UEFA EURO 2028

2) UEFA frequently calls it "United Kingdom & Ireland": Hosts appointed for UEFA EURO 2028 and 2032 & UEFA EURO 2028 in the UK and Republic of Ireland: what we know so far & UEFA EURO 2028 in the UK and Republic of Ireland | Video

3) Even the logo says "UK & Ireland" UEFA Euro 2028

4) This is a navigation box, it is supposed to be short and manageable. Listing all the home nations will be too long.

1. UEFA refers to the host nations as each of the individual countries of the UK. Hosts confirmed

2. The logo is an interim logo only, and not the official logo which will be used. A logo is hardly as a reliable source as UEFA themselves confirming each individual country is host.

3. The UK does not have a football team, or a singular football association, therefore, cannot be recognised as a host.

4. Put simply, UEFA have confirmed the hosts in the link above. Referring to it as anything else is simply misleading and wrong. Goodreg3 (talk) 18:42, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

Additionally;

5. The link you issued from the Scottish Football Association makes it clear “Issued jointly by the football associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland” not the UK. Also adding “the football associations of England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales and the Republic of Ireland have agreed to focus on a bid to host UEFA EURO 2028, the third largest sports event in the world” again, not the UK.

6. The term “UK and Ireland” was merely a bidding name. It does not reflect who is host. As mentioned, UEFA have CONFIRMED the hosts for 2028 as England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and Ireland. Goodreg3 (talk) 18:47, 6 June 2024 (UTC)

1. They do in that one link. In all the other UEFA links that I have shown, they refer to it as "UK & Ireland". Probably because together England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland are "United Kingdom".

2. If they call it "UK & Ireland" as an interim name, Wikipedia should reflect this until the real name and the real logo are unveiled.

3. & 4. "Pan-European" is not a country and does not hav a football team. Nevertheless, it is listed in this navigation box as the host of the 2020 competition.

5. The associations yes, but if you read the headline it says "UK" and later in the statement: "We believe the UK and the Republic of Ireland can offer UEFA and European football something special in 2028".

6.Do you have a source that states that it was only a bidding name? As long as the logo and official name haven't come out: How do you know?

7. You ignored my final argument, so I will just put it here once again: This is a navigation box, it is supposed to be short and manageable. Listing all the home nations will be too long.
