suborder, branch, clade

[edit]

I was intending to change the rank to suborder as I just did with Sauropoda but I looked at the past history and found out that it previously had that rank and then it was changed to branch and then to clade... and thought, that maybe this is some sort of convention of the project paleontology or something like it? why is it that there are no definitions of dinosaurs beyond family level here in Wikipedia? I want to correct Theropoda as a suborder instead of a clade.

There are over 1,500 transclusions of the taxonomy template, so this would change many articles' taxoboxes, and would require consensus. It should be discussed at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Dinosaurs to see if there is a consensus. Peter coxhead (talk) 05:21, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I don't think that Maniraptora should be listed as being in the class "mammalia" considering this is discussing a particular clade of theropod dinosaurs. 73.131.40.181 (talk) 21:08, 3 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
