Incredible Hulk in related?
[edit]Should The Incredible Hulk be included in this navbox? Unlike Shang-Chi, which I feel has stronger ties beyond the narrative reasons (as Abomination was included in that film because of what was happening with She-Hulk), The Incredible Hulk just has characters reappearing here, which I don't feel is enough justification for inclusion. Two editors have added it here so I wanted to start the discussion. For clarification, the other Disney+ templates that have links in "related" are all projects with confirmed narrative ties (or assumed for future releases). - Favre1fan93 (talk) 22:23, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- @Favre1fan93 Well, the reason why Emil Blonsky is incarcerated is due to his involvement in the destruction of Harlem, which is depicted in The Incredible Hulk (2008). His conversation with Jennifer Walters in the second episode is already an indication of him recalling the events of the film. Centcom08 (talk) 23:11, 2 September 2022 (UTC)
- If Shang-Chi is to be included, it seems reasonable for The Incredible Hulk to be included too. —El Millo (talk) 00:14, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
- I'm ambivalent. Connections to the larger MCU like this is hardly uncommon, but it does feel like we're being inconsistent here. For instance, for Template:Hawkeye (2021 TV series), we're including Black Widow because of the Yelena/Natasha storyline continuation, but a good chunk of the series continued Endgame's Ronin storyline too. What exactly should the threshold for including related properties be? InfiniteNexus (talk) 00:25, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
- We shouldn't include every film or other series that gets referenced, but I think The Incredible Hulk and Shang-Chi both have extra reasoning for inclusion, this is a continuation of both in multiple ways and the references to both have been more significant than others (this is basically a continuation of the Hulk franchise, brings back Blonsky properly for the first time and shows the repercussions from TIH, breaks the fourth wall to acknowledge the Banner recasting, and explains what Blonsky and Wong were doing in Shang-Chi which it sounds like was actually added because of this series anyway). - adamstom97 (talk) 09:10, 3 September 2022 (UTC)
- I find there to be enough story narrative connections to both TIH and Shang-Chi that warrants both being included here, as Adam has pointed out. TIH seems like a reasonable link to include here as it helps navigate back to the Hulk franchise of the MCU, which this series continues from with several aspects. We can bring up a wider discussion on the related parameters for these series templates at the taskforce if need be, but I don't think we should include Endgame in this template as Banner's arm was shown in Shang-Chi and its timeline and narrative relevance is already discussed throughout the series article. - Sounds good, we'll leave it. - Favre1fan93 (talk) 16:48, 5 September 2022 (UTC)
