Wichita Township
[edit]Historically, Wichita Township did exist, even if it currently isn't in GNIS, and most likely disolved into the city of Wichita or Wichita plus other suburb cities, but I don't know that for a fact.
I searched for 3 different obsolete Kansas counties, and they don't exist in GNIS either, though some existed on paper before Kansas became a state and other in this list merged after Kansas became a state, still there are 3 articles for these non-existant counties, see "Former_counties_of_Kansas".
Since the obsolete counties aren't in GNIS, doesn't mean Wichita Township didn't exist just because it's not in GNIS either.
Though Wichita Township might not exist today, it should still be listed in the main Sedgwick County article, which it currently doesn't.
Shouldn't the Wichita Township be listed in this template without a wikilink? Possibly state it as "Wichita (defunct)" or other wording to describe it?

- No. Nationwide, these templates do not list former jurisdictions, unless they exist in some other form: former municipalities get listed if they're still unincorporated communities, but former townships that absolutely don't exist are not listed, just like former cities that are now parts of other cities. Where, for example, is Mill Creek Township at {{Hamilton County, Ohio}}? Where is St. Clair Township on {{Allegheny County, Pennsylvania}}? Where are the townships of Chicago on {{Cook County, Illinois}}? Where are the townships on {{Wyandotte County, Kansas}} or Brenham, Highland, Ursula, etc. townships on {{Kiowa County, Kansas}}? The presence of a township in the county article isn't really germane here; I believe that it belongs in a section of the article, by the way. And finally, this is a navbox, not a list: it only gets items that have extant articles or that warrant the creation of articles, and if something doesn't deserve to be linked, it doesn't deserve to appear here in the first place.
