Handling of FRG

[edit]

Hi, should this template {{ru|FRG}} (→  West Germany) be relinked to "[[Germany national rugby union team|West Germany]]" to avoid redirectioning in the same fashion templates like these: {{fb|FRG}} ( West Germany) or {{bk|FRG}} ( West Germany) or {{fh|FRG}} ( West Germany), which all link directly to Germany teams instead of West Germany? There are both: "West Germany national rugby union team" and "Germany national rugby union team". -Wikid77 (talk) 15:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

This relates to a question asked at Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Avoiding redirection, where I answered explaining how to change this. The discussion here is to decide should this change be made. The change in question would be to Template:Country data West Germany, but would affect the output of this template. – PartTimeGnome (talk | contribs) 16:15, 23 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]
I vote yes. There are other similar templates that don't do the redirectioning and go straight to the page. These redirectionings are useless, I think. Tibullus (talk) 00:14, 24 June 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Flag on this template?

[edit]

Is there any reason to have a flag associated with this template. Looking at pages like History of rugby union matches between Australia and New Zealand it seems unnecessary and just messy. AIRcorn (talk) 09:20, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

If you don't want to include the flag in those articles, then don't; just write the name of the team. If you want to save time, you can use {{nrut}}, but make sure you 'subst' it. – PeeJay 23:09, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
I guess the point is that we have the countries name right beside the flag, so what do the flags actually add. AIRcorn (talk) 23:17, 19 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]
An extra bit of visual identification, I suppose. And, of course, it makes the page look better. – PeeJay 17:34, 20 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

ISO codes

[edit]

Hello, ISO code for Ireland is IRL, not IRE, and the flag of Ireland national rugby team before 1922 should be IRL 1801-1922 (see here). -- Blackcat 19:05, 8 April 2022 (UTC)[reply]
