User:Dharmadhyaksha, Including films, tv, plays and books may open a Pandora's box. There are more than 300 ancient and medieval versions of Ramayana. Including links to major versions like Reamker, Phra Lak Phra Ram, Ramcharitmanas is ok (however, which is major or minor version is a question of discussion) but links to Gods, Demons and Others or Hamsa-Sandesha, which are not adaptations in totality is uncalled for IMO.--Redtigerxyz Talk 17:55, 22 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I was aware that the template might become way too big if made all-inclusive but saw Template:Iliad navbox and Template:Odyssey navbox also being all-inclusive. If article exists, the topic is notable. However, I agree that some adaptations like say Dasavatharam (film), Yak: The Giant King are not fully based on Ramayana and can be thus excluded. Editors can discuss this and form consensus. I do not however agree to removing lets say Ramayan (1986 TV series) just because it is not as major as Ramcharitmanas. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 04:26, 23 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that Ramayan (1986 TV series) is a major version, discussed by severe references; however the other Ramayana serials are not so noteworthy. --Redtigerxyz Talk 16:53, 24 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

@Redtigerxyz: I have reproduced the complete list here and striked out the ones I feel can go out. These are mostly the ones which are loosely based on Ramayan or have not gained much notability by means of awards or critical reviews. Feel free to curtail the list more. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 04:50, 25 November 2016 (UTC) XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX[reply]

Film and television
In this, except Ramayan (1986 TV series) no other adaptation seems groundbreaking. --Redtigerxyz Talk 03:51, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Literature
Performing arts & others
Except Ramlila (and probably Singkil), no other play is a great influencer.Redtigerxyz Talk 03:51, 27 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I have gone ahead and removed the discussed entries. But I have kept Sri Ramayana Darshanam by Kuvempu as it won him the Jnanpith Award, and that's when the award rules presented it for a single specific work. §§Dharmadhyaksha§§ {Talk / Edits} 05:21, 30 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The concept "Lakshman Rekha " does not belong here as it is not mentioned in Valmiki's Ramayana. In fact even the Wikipedia page on Lakshman Rekha clearly states that Lakshman Rekha is not mentioned in the Ramayana of Valmiki Ajayjo (talk) 20:12, 19 March 2018 (UTC)ajayjo[reply]
