Presenters
[edit]I see WP:PERFNAV discourages adding presenters where this would be undue weight for one performance over others. However that surely cannot apply to Geoffrey Hayes where his 20 years presenting Rainbow is by far the most significant aspect of his career - certainly it's far more significant than it is to any of the musicians. Also, Geoffrey was exactly an equal part of the show to George, Zippy and Bungle. I strongly suggest that this is an exception to that guideline and inclusion would not be undue. - Adding Geoffrey but not other "real world" presenters/actors to this navbox would put WP:UNDUE weight on his contribution over the contributions of other individuals (Roy Skelton for example). The characters and musical groups were conceived for the programme. --woodensuperman 14:32, 1 October 2018 (UTC)
- That's an over-legalistic interpretation of the rules, which were only designed to prevent overcrowding. It was a presenter-led show, and there were only two presenters, so it's not a problem. The navbox loses its purpose and looks ridiculous without the presenters. You might as well not have the navbox if you remove the presenters. Cnbrb (talk) 09:58, 3 October 2018 (UTC)
- No, you're incorrect I'm afraid. We should not include presenters in the navbox - If you start doing that, then there's no argument for any other of the crew/cast not to be included. See my comment regarding Roy Skelton above. We do not/should not do this for any other "presenter-led show" (whatever that means). For further analysis see the original discussion regarding the implementation of the guideline. --woodensuperman 10:41, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- Oh well, that's the end of that then! It's a pretty pointless navbox now, don't you think? All it does is cross-link to a couple of puppets. Cnbrb (talk) 10:53, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- Well, it passes the WP:NENAN threshold. There are far, far, more pointless navboxes than this. ({{A League of Their Own}} for example.) --woodensuperman 10:56, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
- Yup, that one's pretty pointless! Cnbrb (talk) 10:58, 10 October 2018 (UTC)
