Template talk:Prince George's County Public Schools
Appearance
Elementary schools
[edit]I've removed the elementary schools from this navigation box because they will likely never have articles. While many middle schools and certainly nearly all high schools can meet notability guidelines, the same is not true for elementary schools which very rarely meet notability guidelines. Navigation boxes are for navigation, if these articles are likely never going to be navicable, they do not need to be included here. These schools are already listed in Prince George's County Public Schools#Primary schools.--RadioFan (talk) 13:14, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- I did some research (on borrowed time) and I found that most of the larger school systems in the Baltimore/Washington Metro Area, who had Wikipedia articles, list their elementary schools in their wiki templates. These templates have been reviewed by wiki editors and someone must have felt that posting the schools posed no issues. Furthermore, while insignificant on the grand scheme of things, I found at least two PGCPS elementary schools which did have Wikipedia articles. There appears to be no big deal one way or the other if the schools are listed, so given that factoid, the template should remain as is, or as with the case of Montgomery County Public Schools (in Maryland) a direct link to all elementary schools should be added to this template. But, simply removing the elementary schools section seems strange and the template looks incomplete. --Maryland Pride (talk) 19:34, 25 January 2010 (UTC)
- Navigation templates are for navigation, they are not lists. Navigating to a single entry in a list serves little purpose.--RadioFan (talk) 01:52, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- I'm still waiting for a tangible reason as to why you insist on omitting content on a template I created, when the template (in its then current form), wasn't harming anyone one way or the other. Like I stated, there was nothing unique or odd about the elementary schools being listed in the template. I copied the format using templates from other school systems, as a model. --Maryland Pride (talk) 23:30, 26 January 2010 (UTC)
- Again, navigation boxes are for navigating to articles. If a topic does not have an article, it should not be in a navigation box. They are not lists.--RadioFan (talk) 12:35, 27 January 2010 (UTC)
