Template talk:Pp-semi-vandalism
ns:main
[edit]{{editprotected}}
Please change "ns:main" to "ns:0" (ns:main does not work). Also you might want to change "ns:image" to "ns:6", but this is not necessary. --- RockMFR 17:27, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Done. I didn't change the ns:image as it's slightly clearer to people who don't know the syntax. --ais523 17:30, 31 March 2007 (UTC)
- Curiously, regarding "ns:image". Is there any advantage to using it over "Image:". They both do the same thing. --Charitwo 03:18, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
Overlapping with FA icon
[edit]Has the template always overlapped with the Featured Article icon, like it is on Big Bang right now? Thanks. Xiner (talk) 14:44, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks Tariqabjotu. Xiner (talk) 15:19, 4 April 2007 (UTC)
Clarification
[edit]It should be clear (or linked to) what constitutes as "newly registered users". --Bensin 00:16, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- The word "disabled" links to Wikipedia:Protection policy, which states at the top that users newer than four days old cannot edit semi-protected pages. I'm not sure how to make the whole sentence clearer. Any ideas? Xiner (talk) 00:37, 5 April 2007 (UTC)
- Perhaps linking "newly registered" to Wikipedia:Protection policy too, to point the curious in the right direction. What do you think? --Bensin 21:15, 6 April 2007 (UTC)
Categorization
[edit]{{editprotected}}
{{pp-vandalism}} now adds pages to Category:Protected against vandalism (which has existed for some time). Separating out protected pages by their reason for protection in this way seems quite useful, and should certainly help with maintenance (and dispense with the need for extremely long pages like Wikipedia:List of protected pages before it was blanked). I've created a parallel Category:Semi-protected against vandalism for this purpose which is currently empty; all that needs to be done is edit this template to have it add pages to that category. Thanks – Gurch 23:08, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
- Done. -- zzuuzz(talk) 23:20, 13 April 2007 (UTC)
Period!
[edit]{{editprotected}}
The sentence This page has been temporarily semi-protected from editing to deal with vandalism needs a period at the end! Gosh, it's irritating. The tooltips for the small=yes of the other templates have periods at the end. -Phoenix 05:13, 20 April 2007 (UTC)
Small icon consistency
[edit]The other pp-templates have 20px for the small lock size. Can someone change the size for the small icon to 20px so all the pp-templates match? -- Hdt83 Chat 05:48, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- P.S, one or two more other pp templates also have inconsistent small icon sizes so could you also change the size to 20px, thanks. -- Hdt83 Chat 05:50, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
- Done. Let's see if I can find which other templates you mean; if not, feel free to tag those with similar requests. – Luna Santin (talk) 07:04, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
Very distracting
[edit]Am I the only one that thinks these huge templates on top of protected pages are annoying. Isn't it enough to have a little locked icon in the upper right corner? I always see it as something being wrong with the article when I see a notice on top. Has this been brought up before? --Steinninn talk 01:13, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Take a look at Template talk:Sprotected2 and the archives at Template talk:Sprotected as well as this thread for some of the issues, and also, incidentally at this recent edit. You are not the only one who thinks the templates are annoying, but this is similarly not the only point of view. -- zzuuzz (talk) 01:55, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Re-wording
[edit]{{Editprotected}} Hello, could an admin make a change so it no longer says to deal with vandalism and says to prevent vandalism as vandalism is dealt with quickly by reverting and therefore the wording seems wrong. Thanks --The Sunshine Man 16:32, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- That sort-of implies that we semi-protect pages pre-emptively. What about 'due to vandalism'? --ais523 16:34, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Yes, that sounds good :-) The Sunshine Man 16:57, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Done. Cheers. --MZMcBride 17:06, 3 June 2007 (UTC)
- Continuing the matter. The template may read: 'currently disabled until some date'. In my opinion the word 'currently' mildly implies that the time of protection is undetermined and this clashes with 'until'. Dunno, am I the only one who find this a bit awkward?

{{editprotected}}
The word "currently" in the template is awkward and thus the word ought to be deleted so that the template reads better, at least so far as including specific dates are concerned. — Rickyrab | Talk 20:42, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
- I changed "currently" to "{{#if:{{{expiry|}}}||currently}}", so that the "currently" text will only appear if an expiry date is not specified (and therefore not displayed) in the template. This should address the concern without leaving the potential implication that the page will be protected forever. Nihiltres(t.l) 21:16, 26 September 2007 (UTC)
small+expiry
[edit]I wish there was a way to link the expiration date from the small padlock when both are specified. As it is now, if both parameters are there, small=yes is ignored. ←BenB4 07:26, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
- We can't do that right now because we use ImageMap in the small padlock for compatibility reasons, and ImageMap does not accept template variables. I wish it did, that would finally completely deprecate {{click}}. Nihiltres(t.l) 14:55, 27 September 2007 (UTC)
Update anchor
[edit]{{editprotected}}
The 'new' link is outdated. It needs to point to #Autoconfirmed_users instead of #Autoconfirmed. Carson 20:23, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
- Done at {{pp-meta}}, where that text is located. Nihiltres{t.l} 20:31, 20 April 2008 (UTC)
Restricting Category:Semi-protected against vandalism to articles, templates and portals ?
[edit]For maintenance I think it would be worthwhile that the template categorizes in Category:Semi-protected against vandalism only articles, templates and portals. They are the most to-be-aware-of, and other pages can be categorized in Category:Semi-protected project pages, Category:Move protected talk pages, Category:Move protected user and user talk pages, etc. Cenarium (Talk) 02:29, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
