POV

[edit]

Sephia karta, why are you adding the picture of coat of arms of the republic of Abkhazia, that is not recognized by the most of the world's governments? The template is not only used for the government institutions of the RoA, but ARoA too, that is recognized as the legal government of Abkhazia by Georgia and the majority of the world's governments. Therefore that picture is an obviously POV, this one is much more neutral. –BruTe Talk 06:38, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

1) I did not add the coat of arms, I restored it, because I don't agree with the reasoning of Dn9ahx.
2) There is no reason why this template should be used for the government institutions of the ARoA, as they are separate institutions. Furthermore, the ARoA is a government in exile, so should not receive undue weight, and there are not many articles related to its politics and governments anyway. These can be covered by the Template:Politics of Georgia (country), or if really necessary, receive their own template.
3) I hope we can agree that if this template only covers the institutions of the partially recognised, contested Republic of Abkhazia, then the use of the Coat of Arms of this contested state does not break WP:NPOV. Its use does not in any way imply that Wikipedia does or does not recognise the legitimacy of its statehood. In fact, even if we considered the Republic of Abkhazia illegitimate, it would still be a valid object of encyclopaedic study, and we could still use the emblem it self-identifies with for illustrative purposes, such as this. This is the universal approach for contested states on Wikipedia:
The only case which is different is Kosovo, but note that that template not only covers the Republic of Kosovo, but also the Serbian-administered part (which, btw, I think is a mistake). sephia karta | dimmi 13:19, 23 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
