Template talk:Permission from license selector
I've revised the template to be shorter and less lectury. The previous version was a bit long-winded about why this is a speedy deletion reason; now, it's hidden behind a link they can look at if they want to, and it's more clear about what to do to fix the problem. - Good. I re-added the part about not uploading any more images with this tag, and added a CC option. Stifle (talk) 15:32, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- What do you think about adding, at the bottom, Administrators: please, as a courtesy, do not delete this page in the first 15 minutes after its creation, to allow the uploader time to read the tag and attempt to correct the license. Mangojuicetalk 16:29, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- I would be very hesitant. If the uploader has the chance to lie about the license, it could easily be abused. On the other hand, posting a message on the subject here and on WP:AN would not be too bad. Stifle (talk) 21:57, 24 July 2006 (UTC)
- By offering the option in the first place, people may be misled into thinking that such a license is acceptable. Setting this trap is not nice at all. AlbertCahalan 09:29, 1 September 2007 (UTC)
- But it's necessary, or people will just pick another license that seems best. People expect this option to exist. There are warnings that it's not acceptible. Mangojuicetalk 14:44, 1 September 2007 (UTC)

The mail.wikimedia.org link needs to be removed and replaced with lists.wikimedia.org so that it is no longer broken. While such links used to redirect, they no longer do. Gparyani (talk) 22:08, 25 June 2015 (UTC)

The first sentence currently says: This media file, which you just uploaded, has been listed for speedy deletion because you indicated that only Wikipedia has permission to use this file.
Clicking on "speedy deletion" takes you to the page about the criteria for speedy deletion, but not the specific criterion (F3). Can that first sentence please be changed to "This media file, which you just uploaded, '''has been listed for [[Wikipedia:Criteria for speedy deletion#F3|speedy deletion]]''' because you indicated that only Wikipedia has permission to use this file." I tested that change out in this template's sandbox.

Please remove the {{GFDL-self}} suggestion. We shouldn't suggest users to even consider this impractical and obsolete license. — Alexis Jazz (talk or ping me) 02:35, 26 May 2021 (UTC)
