I have tried to use this template on https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:BostonOldChurch.jpg however it has not come up in this form. Can anyone help me troubleshoot this? Thanks
- Hi Lady Rose MacClare this template is on English Wikipedia, that file is on Wikimedia Commons. You have to use templates from there. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 14:27, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi KylieTastic how I am supposed to use this on the English Wikipedia if every time I try to edit photos that are in articles it takes me straight to Wikimedia Commons. Thanks Lady Rose MacClare (talk) 16:33, 2 May 2021
- Hi Lady Rose MacClare you can use images from commons on any language Wikipedia however the licence templates etc must be from commons. There are 3d art templates but not sure if any are what you are looking for such as c:Template:PD-art-70-3d - also see c:Category:PD-Art license tags. If an image isn't suitable for commons you can still upload locally using the Wikipedia:File Upload Wizard but that is mainly for Non-Free fair use, but there are some images that are free to use here but not OK for commons due to a non-us countries laws such as File:AUS Alphanumeric Route C538.svg and the easiest way then is just via Special:Upload (or from the "Upload file" on left menu then "Plain form for local uploads" option). Hope that helps explain things a bit. Cheers KylieTastic (talk) 15:46, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Hi KylieTastic I did upload this file locally through the Upload wizard which is why I am confused as there is no option to add the tags until you edit which takes you to the commons page. Thanks! Lady Rose MacClare (talk) 10:35, 3 May 2021
