Issue with purpose of Navbox

[edit]

Apparently an editor does not understand what other Navboxes are for. Navboxes are meant for navigating through articles for readers to find quickly. If there are other Navboxes that display Band members that dont have their own articles, then it can be fixed. Also its pointless to put a category in a Navbox as it basically displays the same with images. No reason to put commons either. Navboxes are meant for navigating articles not displaying everyt topic. Its called navbox not displaybox.

For the record, there are many templates that misuse navboxes. Using WP:OTHERSTUFFEXIST isnt going to work. Because several of them are being misused.Lucia Black (talk) 00:45, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Navboxes are actually meant to serve a number of purposes. However in this case these links are 1. navigational, 2. highly relevant and 3. completely standard. Vast numbers of templates in WP have a below bar with commons and category linked (and where available, links to Wikiquotes, Wikiproject, Wikinews etc). Equally templates for bands almost always have the members of the band in an above bar. Both these features are so common that challenging their presence in a specific template strikes me as curious. Not true. Its an accepted misuse, not a proper standard. Challenging them is very easy. All of those should change too if multiple links relate to the same thing. In essence this would be nice if Navboxes were meant for editors alone, but their mainly for readers. No use putting commons in navboxes. There is no benefit of that, same with displaying band members. I actually got inspired to look for every navbox that misuses them and fixing them.Lucia Black (talk) 01:05, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
When something appears in thousands of high profile templates, and has for a long while, then it has become an established feature of the project. If you don't like it then I suggest that you get involved with the relevant project which looks after navboxes. Rangoon11 (talk) 12:08, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
Your the nly one enforcing it. Its not a standard to add multiple links to the same article. Its for navigation through articles and nothing more. Yes, if One Direction Band Members all had their own articles then yes, but adding commons and category is pointless for a navbox.Lucia Black (talk) 15:36, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]
'adding commons and category is pointless for a navbox' - in your opinion. But these appear in tens of thousands of navboxes, and are navigational in the sense that they navigate to relevant Wikimedia content. Many very high profile and longstanding navboxes have these links and they are not deprecated by the project.
Navboxes do also contain links to sections within articles, this is common. And particularly useful in this case where the members of the band are so important to the topic of the band. Rangoon11 (talk) 16:09, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

like i said. Its vavigation through articles to help editors find related articles. Commons is usually useful in a portal or in navbox for a wikiproject. But its useless for readers. Band members dont have their own article. And therefore no reason to list bandmembers if they link to the same article. I think you know this but so fixated on the "standard". Which there isnt, just a mistake that hasnt been brought to light up until now. Basically WP:OTHERSTUFFEXIST.Lucia Black (talk) 17:43, 7 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Concert films

[edit]

Where is the concert film for Up All Night, Four, and Made in the AM? I Have Always Been a Twin (talk) 16:44, 2 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Up All Night: The Live Tour is linked in the template already. The others do not have articles so are not included. — ᴀnemoneᴘroᴊecтors 11:59, 29 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]
