Geometry issues
[edit]@Whoop whoop pull up and Useddenim: There are some geometry issues with this template that the two of you may be able to correct better than I:
- The CRMF itself is not inline with the northside lines (only small employee platforms are), and I think this diagram should show the maintenance facility itself rather than the employee platforms. The CRMT itself can be switched to from the north or the south on the Fitchburg Line, or the south on the Lowell Line.
- The portal serving the L, H, and N/R lines comes to the surface after the Fitchburg Line has already branched off to the left.
- The Orange Line crosses the Charles parallel to the existing lines and the proposed tunnel, with its northern portal on the east side of the commuter rail terminal area.
- The Red Line runs north of the existing South Station, and east of it under Fort Point Channel. It crosses no existing lines (except the Old Colony Lines further to the south); the NSRL would cross under the Red Line under Fort Point Channel.
- The NEC and the Worcester Line are on separate but parallel lines heading towards Back Bay. The NSRL portal serving them would be located between the two parallel lines.
I can attempt to make some of these myself, but I'll defer to your skills. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 17:25, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- The separate Fitchburg Line portal is already there. Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 20:44, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Sorry, I wasn't clear. In the last NSRL plans, the portal for the L, H, and N/R lines does not join those lines on the surface until north of where the surface Fitchburg Line splits off (i.e, it is not possible to go from the east portal to the surface Fitchburg Line). Pi.1415926535 (talk) 21:25, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- Ah, gottit. Problem is, it might not be possible to show that without removing the current alignment from the map, since the current alignment does have the F branching off from the L, H, and NR on the surface... Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 21:45, 6 July 2016 (UTC)
- I was thinking of something like this diagram I just drew. I think that should fix the portal and CRMF geometry at the same time. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 15:05, 11 July 2016 (UTC)
- Looks pretty good! I'll try to get something up along those lines by the end of this week. Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 00:26, 13 July 2016 (UTC)
- Update: Won't be able to get it up by the end of this week, but should be able to by the end of next. Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 00:35, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Pi.1415926535: — Current version look good (thanx for doing the northern portions, @Useddenim:!)? Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 23:45, 17 July 2016 (UTC)
- The Newburyport/Rockport Line is a little squeezed in, but it’s the best I could do. Useddenim (talk) 00:36, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

That looks pretty good! The NSRL tunnel would be approximately under the current platforms and actually slightly to the east - so you could swap it to the right at North Station and move the whole surface segment one position to the left if you desired. For the South Station area, I'm thinking something like this sketch would be most accurate. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 15:28, 18 July 2016 (UTC)

- @Pi.1415926535:And now also WRT southern curves? (Sorry if I'm pinging you too much!) Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 22:47, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- Those changes both look good. The Red Line still needs changed a bit - it should have its station stop, then cross the NSRL mainline (north of where the NSRL splits towards the southern portals), then cross under the Fort Point Channel. Pi.1415926535 (talk) 22:50, 18 July 2016 (UTC)
- @Pi.1415926535:Updated version better? Whoop whoop pull up Bitching Betty | Averted crashes 00:27, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
- I've changed the Red Line routing to reflect its actual route and that it runs under Fort Point Channel. FP Channel needs a proper label now, though. And the Orange Line geometry at North Station needs work, although I might be able to do some of that myself. Thanks, Pi.1415926535 (talk) 15:16, 19 July 2016 (UTC)
