Template talk:Music of China
Some parts of this template are not suitable in Hong Kong, Macau and Taiwan.--HeiChon 15:53, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit]The text on the left seems too tiny, and should probably be bold. Also, this template should probably be more artistic and appealing, with a photo at the top (maybe of some beautiful ancient Chinese musical instrument like a bianzhong bell). Badagnani 00:03, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have tried larger text before except it got out of proportion. You can try it though. I try to keep the template slim so it fits on any page. Benjwong 05:37, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Regional traditions
[edit]"Regional traditions" is off-center. Badagnani 00:33, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Chinese Musicians' Association might be added under a new heading "Organizations," as it's the most prominent organization. Badagnani 00:33, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- I would recommend saying exactly that in the main music page. And that's it. I am trying hard to close to the Music of United States templates. Also that section you are looking for may have been moved to Guoyue page. Benjwong 05:37, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
I'm sorry, I don't understand your commenr. Can you rephrase it? Thanks, Badagnani 17:25, 2 June 2007 (UTC)
What just happened to the template?
[edit]What just happened to this template? It is currently very ugly. Badagnani (talk) 00:32, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
Colors of changed template
[edit]The color scheme of the new template was not good. Badagnani (talk) 00:34, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- well, the color scheme we can talk about (I'm no graphic artist), but the template itself is an improvement. it's based on the standard {{infobox}} format, and standardizes the template across different uses. I'd appreciate it if you'd reinstate the new template, and if you'd tell me what colors you'd like to see (I'll implement something now so that the color scheme can be easily modified). --Ludwigs2 01:11, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
I think the new template had good aspects. The colors seemed too "heavy" (the classic, more pastel scheme seems nicer) and the older image at the top was nicer than the new one. Can you use colors of the new one similar to the old one? Badagnani (talk) 01:13, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- I just added a set of parameters that let you adjust the color scheme directly. the only thing I'll note is that in the original discussion about this - here - a different editor didn't like the old color scheme very much (talking about a similar template for a different country). I'll reinstate the new template and change the color scheme to resemble the old (and add the old picture, as well), but we might want to spiff it up a little bit. no sense being drab. --Ludwigs2 01:41, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- alright, I made the header colors the same as the old version, and gave the background a nice light blue (rather than the previous white). we can make that lighter (or pure white) if you want. what do you think? --Ludwigs2 01:50, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
I think it is better, although the light purple background could be lighter, or even a neutral color, leaving the bars the same purple color as the current background. I assume this color scheme would be used for all the similar infoboxes across WP? Badagnani (talk) 01:53, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
I just looked at the structure of the box and it looks really great as far as its logic and the genres it encompasses, except that there is only one form of traditional music: yayue, but no other traditional genres. There are also other festivals besides the Midi festival. Badagnani (talk) 01:54, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
- ok, I'll make the colors lighter (easy enough). and yes, the colors will look the same across other 'music of' pages (it works well with Indonesia, where it was designed, because Indonesian music is a lot warmer and earthier; Chinese music (at least the formal forms) is more esoteric, and so I can see the blue tones might make more sense). as far as the traditional thing goes, though... I can't really speak to content (not really my field). I'd suggest you reorganize. if you move the buddhist and taoist links into the 'traditional' section, the label will disappear, which might look better in this case. I'll make that edit and see what you think. --Ludwigs2 02:15, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
It looks very lovely now. You are good at this. Badagnani (talk) 02:36, 27 April 2009 (UTC)
