[edit]Someone center align the template. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.77.82.205 (talk • contribs)
- Because you changed it to a new format and did not let people change it back. The old template was center aligned and it looks better. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.102.81.231 (talk • contribs)
- It was part of standardization that is going on with all templates across Wikipedia. GreenJoe 02:08, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- So do you know how to do it or not?? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.102.81.231 (talk • contribs)

Security
[edit]The security service is part of McMaster. No where does it say this is just an academic template. Me-123567-Me (talk) 22:03, 20 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, security service is part of McMaster but everything listed on the template is academic departments and faculties. Security services is campus police which does not fit in special programs. I really don't see why this is a problem, its common sense! 144.214.156.104 (talk) 01:16, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- The campus radio station isn't academic either, yet it's on the template. Me-123567-Me (talk) 03:29, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

- Campus radio is operated by students via the student union therefore it is in the students section of the template. Security services is campus police which obviously would not be run by students. 144.214.156.104 (talk) 03:35, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- I disagree. It's not academic at all just because student may perhaps run it. Me-123567-Me (talk) 03:38, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

- Are you arguing just for the sake of arguing? Campus radio is run by students and therefore is in the students section. It is fact, accept it. It has nothing to do with faculties and departments. Meanwhile, you inserted Security services under special programs which clearly does not belong there. Security services does not fall under students section nor is it a faculty so it has no place in the template. 144.214.156.104 (talk) 03:53, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Since you have not come to a consensus, I have requested a third opinion per the dispute resolution policy. Please stop reverting each other until consensus has been reached. You have both broken 3RR. -- Gogo Dodo (talk) 05:32, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Third Opinion
[edit]Hi all. I saw the listing for this on the third opinion page.
I'd like to summarise the dispute, if I may. Please correct me if I have read your position incorrectly.
- Feels that the template should include all things relevant to McMaster, including McMaster University Security Service.
- Feels that the template should include only academically-relevant information.
Is that an accurate summary of the dispute? //roux 07:10, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- That is correct. This template is mainly an academic template. It lists faculties, departments (schools) and special teaching programs. McMaster University Security Service does not fall under any of these categories. Security services is campus police, obviously not an academic program nor does McMaster provide teaching related to law enforcement. Therefore it should be EXCLUDED in this template. 144.214.156.104 (talk) 08:31, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- It's not just an academic template. Me-123567-Me (talk) 16:54, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Opinion
It looks to me as though the template isn't entirely academic--but it is entirely student-related. The campus security force, unless you can show that it's run and/or staffed by students, simply is not student-related. They are support staff, same as the janitors or cafeteria workers or librarians. The only way I could see it making sense for the security article to be included would be if:
- A new section is made in the template, 'Support staff' or something like that, and
- There are sufficient other articles to populate that section. I'd say at least three or four.
Shorter version: no, the police don't really belong. And the request for comment is complete overkill.
//roux 17:24, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Of course campus security does not belong on the template. Yes, request for comment is overkill but can't you see we are dealing with a very stubborn person who just says "it isn't just academic". 203.218.215.28 (talk) 00:55, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- Let's avoid personal comments such as 'stubborn', please. Does the opinion I gave address everyone's concerns? //roux 06:25, 22 November 2008 (UTC)
- There is no limit to stupidity and ME-123567 is pushing the frontier. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 59.149.233.240 (talk) 06:02, 25 January 2009 (UTC)
