Please don't alter the Tenth Doctor bit; it's all one story, hence following the convention of separating the separately titled new series episodes set by the Dalek and Cybermen story templates.

I can't understand why people have done things differently. I myself remember changing it to include slashes at one point because someone had split it up. 85.92.173.186 16:45, 9 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It should include Gordon Tipple, he has played him and is listed on the portrayed by section. 80.42.56.87 (talk) 18:06, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

He had no speaking role. In fact, he was on screen for only a few seconds. -- [[User:Edokter]] {{talk}} 18:40, 12 November 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Reverting to Nth Doctor

[edit]

Seems the actors' names were added a few months back and there was constant reverting / edit war over this, although this seems to have been more about the inclusion of 1st and 2nd Doctor serials than the addition of the actors names, although there doesn't seem to have been any discussion on the matter. I'ver reverted to the earlier form of labelling the groups by Doctor for two reasons:

  1. By longstanding consensus we do not link to actors in navboxes.
  2. Consistency with similar templates: {{Dalek stories}}, {{Cybermen stories}}, {{Davros stories}}, {{Master audios}}, etc, etc.

I reverted to an earlier version in order to do this, but hopefully I've preserved the status quo with regard to which stories are included. --Rob Sinden (talk) 13:30, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I'm sorry, but where is this long-standing consensus? Consistency is also not a factor; the Master is played be real actors. It also maintain a real-world perspective. Focusing context to in-universe information is more suited to Wikia. -- [[User:Edokter]] {{talk}} 15:51, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We don't include cast in any TV series or film navbox. It's related to Wikipedia:WikiProject Actors and Filmmakers#Filmography navbox templates, but I can't find the exact discussion. --Rob Sinden (talk) 16:00, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
I think what that's saying is that we don't do navboxes for actors (as they have large filmographies). But navboxes for characters which feature actors that portray them should probably be fine. DonQuixote (talk) 16:05, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
On the same subject, what do we think about the many templates which group stories by companion, like {{First Doctor audios}}? —Flax5 23:02, 22 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Here's a few discussions on the subject:
(interesting to note how I used to fall on the other side of this argument!) --Rob Sinden (talk) 09:35, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]
We could just leave structuring as it is and do away with the links to the actors as at {{Sherlock Holmes screen adaptations}}. Another option would be to take a more horizontal approach, maybe only separating by 1963 vs. 2005 series and avoiding Nth doctor or actor entirely. Some of the groups ony have one entry after all. --Rob Sinden (talk) 09:50, 23 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Destiny of the Doctors?

[edit]

Since the Master is the villain (and main character) of the video game, is this game worth mentioning in "see also" on the template? NP Chilla (talk) 00:52, 15 March 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Ascension of the Cybermen

[edit]

I have moved "Ascension of the Cybermen" to minor appearances, given the fact that the character only very briefly appears in the episode (indeed the character has less screen time than they did in some of the 12th Doctor stories currently listed under minor appearances).
