Dead (or long hiatus)
[edit]The MVDBase.com website is dead (its content gone, replaced with the default Apache server page). On their Facebook page, the site's owner says the site is:
Not dead, but on hiatus. I need to finish fixing the code. Most of it is done, but I haven't had much free time to finalize things yet. Hopefully soon. I will announce on Facebook when the site is back up.
That was a year ago; comments on the Facebook page suggest it may have been dead for at least 4 years. Currently en.wikipedia uses this template to link to it about 100 times. I don't think it's reasonable for us to have that many unfixed dead links for so long, with no prospect of their being fixed.
Is there another source with the same content? Should we simply delete the template? -- Finlay McWalter··–·Talk 19:25, 10 September 2023 (UTC)
- Looking at a bunch of the content kept by wayback, I don't see anything newer than 2019. Looking at what little is archived at wayback, I have to ask:
- is this a reliable source? It looks like one person's project, which doesn't in turn seem to cite reliable sources. I'd fear WP:USERGENERATED and maybe WP:CIRCULAR
- is it even worthwhile linking to the archives? All the archived pages I've looked at have very little content in them.
