History of laundry

[edit]

As I understand, laundry management was one of the starts to the consumer movement in the sense that it was the start of standardized washing practices which were set in publication and propagated for uniform compliance. Maybe it was Mrs Beeton's Book of Household Management or some other book from the era, but I know I have seen some early accounts of how laundry is to be managed and that there are modern commentaries on the beginnings of laundry. Someday I would like to make articles about this. Blue Rasberry (talk) 14:33, 19 March 2014 (UTC)[reply]

There is some historical coverage in the Laundry article, but there's plenty of room for improvement. There's also historical material at Washing machine and Homemaking. Coverage of health and social effects should be consolidated into one place, probably the Laundry article. I look forward to seeing your contributions.
