Template talk:Katakana table
Deletion of yi, ye, and wu
[edit]I deleted images in the grids of yi, ye, and wu. It's true that the glyphs shown by them appeared in the past, but other "letters" were invented too, and the whole history is not so short. They were proposed in late Edo period as a part of various scholarly study. Please read ja:五十音 for the entire story.--Ahora (talk) 02:08, 28 December 2012 (UTC)
New parameters
[edit]This edit has added a bunch of stuff to the template, apparently something to do with passing parameters. Historically I have had some involvement with editing this table, and I was instrumental in getting it converted to a template so it could be reused across two articles, but I do not understand how or why these new parameters would be used or needed. I do not understand any of the documentation, or the motivation behind these changes. What is needed are examples of how these parameters are supplied to the template, and why one would want to do that. 86.179.112.252 (talk) 20:20, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- I’ve expanded on the documentation, hope that helps. For reasons to want that see latest Talk:Transcription into Japanese. — Christoph Päper 22:47, 25 February 2013 (UTC)
- I'm sorry, I've reverted the parameter changes. I do not see any reason at all for this great addition of complexity and difficulty. If the table needs to be reused in customised form in some new article then let's worry about that at the time it happens. 86.160.217.172 (talk) 02:54, 4 March 2013 (UTC)
- I’ll revert that now, because Transcription into Japanese actually needs a table with lesser details about obsolescence of certain characters. Please note that in Katakana the template call remains simply

What about "v"?
[edit]ヴ added at least 25 years ago. Violin (or Violon) ヴィオロン Louvre ルーヴル (where I first saw ヴ) — Preceding unsigned comment added by 92.105.3.51 (talk) 13:16, 2 April 2020 (UTC)
