I understand the desire to not change the format in order to not deviate from similar templates, but this template is unweildy and clunky. When inserted haphazardly into an article, the template screws up the layout quite nastily. - Cybjorg 10:56, 12 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Totally messed up

[edit]

Is this supposed to be a family tree ? or a list ? It can't be a family tree because it for example placed King Abdullah under Queen Noor while she is not his mother (Princess Muna is his mother) and so on. If this is a list, then it should start with the King, and then list pricesses. I am about to make a total change on it, but I wanted to give who-ever started this template a chance to explain what was meant by it.. Thanks. --Isam

The list is so long, one could create an entire article on the subject. I personally think we should do away with this template all together, as it is getting way out of hand. - Cybjorg 16:07, 27 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Queen Noor

[edit]

I think that HM Queen Noor should be placed above all the princes and princesses in the kingdom simply because she is a queen dowager, but User:AliaBuhler disagrees. Her Majesty Queen Noor naturally has a precedence over all the princes and princesses, but the current King and Queen have a precedence over her. That's why I'd place her below HM The Queen. User:AliaBuhler is right; this template obviously doesn't go by any order, but HM Queen Noor should not be placed below 18 princes and princesses. Surtsicna (talk) 18:21, 23 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • As there is no real order apart from family sections then i dont think it really matters where Noor is the only thing that matters is the reigning King and Queen are first. If you put Noor under Rania then the section of Abdullahs and ranias family doesnt flow unlike everyone elses family section. Noor isn't placed under 18 princes and princess on purpose, shes placed there because thats where her line of the family starts with hamzah. As there is no real line of succussion i think it makes sense to put it going down from Abdullah in age and family sections, which is how it is now apart from Princess Alia who was born before Abdullah but obviously cannot be put before him. I've rearranged the template. This is the way I've placed them:
  1. the King and Queen and their children are on the top;
  2. Queen Noor and her children, her daughter-in-law and grandchildren are below them;
  3. Queen Alia's son, adopted daughter, daughter-in-law and grandchildren are below Queen Noor and her descendants;
  4. Princess Alia in fourth section;
  5. Princess Muna and her son, daughters, daughter-in-law and grandchildren (except for the King, his spouse and their children) are below Princess Dina and her daughter;
  6. the last section consists of brothers and sisters of King Hussein, spouses of King Hussein's brother and King Talal's male line grandchildren. Surtsicna (talk) 17:13, 24 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Princes of Jordan

[edit]

Does anyone know who exactly has right to hold title Prince/Princess of Jordan? Only sons, daughters, daughters-in-law and male-line grandchildren of kings of Jordan or all male-line descendants of kings of Jordan? I'm asking because this template is already crowded, useless and messy = ugly. Eg. Prince Hussein bin Al Talal is a great-grandson of King Talal of Jordan, but he was born 27 years after King Talal's death and 47 years after his abdication. If he bears the princely title as son of a prince, then this template will soon go way out of hand and it will be impossible to include all male-line descendants (+ their wives) of kings. Surtsicna (talk) 19:31, 25 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

  • all the members in the template at the moment has the right to hold prince/princess, all male dencendants from any kings have the right too. Unlike all the other royal families this royal family is a huge one but i do agree it seems abit messy and to much. I think the template could be cut down to Prince Muhammad, so that way it includeds king husseins children and there children, then possible create another template called for example Jordanian Royal Family extended and include the removed members and use that template for their pages.
