Add parameters

[edit]

The former {{Infobox World Netball Championship}} had parameters for city, nation and venues, which weren't merged into this template by Primefac (despite them being listed in the template documentation). The venues one in particular was being used on multiple articles. Can someone re-add them? I attempted to do so, but not correctly, so self reverted. The consensus of the template discussion was to merge without losing functionality, and currently we have lost some functionality. Joseph2302 (talk) 12:21, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

No, actually, it didn't. What was in the template and what you attempted to add was simply an #if statement to trigger the header (which is no longer necessary since it uses autoheaders). Primefac (talk) 12:28, 16 January 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Dec 2023 updates

[edit]

@Aidan721: Since you are working on this template. Some observations. Scoring leader(s) is not a term used in netball. Should be put back to Top Scorer. Maybe you could add a section for TV. There are no most tries in netball. Different sports. Maybe city and venue should appear next to each other. Djln19 Djln19 (talk) 20:19, 12 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Aidan721,I appreciate you were trying to improve this template. However unfortunately by changing venue to venues, you removed the word venue from multiple infoboxes and not just this one. I've reverted some of them but I suspect there is more

. Plus the last edit removed parameters that were in use. Djln19 Djln19 (talk) 01:43, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]

I replaced them all, man. You just added them back. Category:Pages using infobox international netball competition with unknown parameters tracked the usage of the old (non-matching) parameters. None were in use until you went on a revert rampage. Have some patience, man. –Aidan721 (talk) 01:47, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand what your gripe is. If you can explain it to me and it seems reasonable, I'll do my best to fix it. –Aidan721 (talk) 01:52, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
  • You should explain what you are trying to do. Because all I can see is you messing up infoboxes and articles that were perfectly fine before. I'm sure you are well intended but it comes across as sloppy editing at best and vandalism at worst. By replacing the word "venue" with "venues" in multiple infoxboxes this has had the side effect of replacing EVERY "venue" with "venues" throughout whole articles, not just the infoboxes. This in turn removed the venues previously named in article. Was this your intention and if so why ? Makes absolutely no sense. Djln19 Djln19 (talk) 14:10, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Now, I see what you mean. My edits replaced |venue= with |venues= in other templates. Your explanation made it seem as if there was an issue with THIS infobox as opposed to elsewhere in the article. I will fix. Vandalism is a bit laughable buddy, it was simply a mistake. I will correct your precious little articles, just have some patience and try to be better at communicating issues. –Aidan721 (talk) 14:43, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Thanks Aidan721, for your understanding. Not saying you were deliberately vandalizing. Just saying it can look that way to someone who did not understand what you were trying to do. Otherwise good job on updating this infobox. Djln19 Djln19 (talk) 15:51, 13 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
    • Aidan721, should you need to make this sort of update in the future, make sure you have your replacement as a sub-rule of "in template call" so that you are only making the change in the template you're attempting to update. This way you will not end up inadvertently replacing the wrong thing. Primefac (talk) 08:42, 14 December 2023 (UTC)[reply]
