"Using Jurisdiction"
[edit]I'm just curious about the label used for the issuing country. The infobox template presently says "Using jurisdiction" which is followed (as far as I can see) by the country (with its flag) where the item has been issued as an identity document.
I find this label a bit confusing and/or misleading since a passport (or identity document, in general) is intended for use in many jurisdictions -- not to mention that it is also possible to specify 'valid in' locations using the valid_jurisdictions entry. Would it not be more accurate to say "Issued by" or something similar? Or have I missed the intent of this entry completely?
I am soliciting comments before making any change. If you think it's okay as is or can explain why it shouldn't be changed, then please comment.

Type of... and Language
[edit]Should this infobox also have this sort of information? Eg. For passports you have biometric, machine-readable, internal, diplomatic and old type of passports. And for the data page/information page are printed on...what language? It should also be usefull.--Milan.j (talk) 22:26, 15 December 2011 (UTC)
Date of Issue
[edit]In the context of passports, it is a bit confusing as to whether the 'latest series' is implied {as appears to be current practice) or when the state in question first issued passports, or even when the passport series displayed at the infobox was first issued, which is hardly desirable. Could this please be clarified? Thanks in advance. RashersTierney (talk) 08:05, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
- We should probably have both. "First issued" should be historical (ex. 1860), and "Latest series" should be about the new version (ex. 2010). Otherwise it leads to confusion like here. --Piotr Konieczny aka Prokonsul Piotrus| talk to me 16:47, 16 May 2012 (UTC)
Width
[edit]The width of this template seems exceptionally narrow compared to others (eg Infobox country), making text of more than a few words appear as a distracting 'list'. (See [German passport] as example). Can it not be widened to allow a few more words per line? RashersTierney (talk) 22:07, 20 February 2013 (UTC)
