Add other local historic designations in Pennsylvania?
[edit]Suggest them here. CrazyPaco (talk) 00:55, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
necessary?
[edit]Is it really necessary to create a fork of Template:Infobox NRHP? If Pennsylvania info could somehow be shoehorned into Template:Infobox NRHP, that would mean one less template to learn, document, and maintain. Just a suggestion,--Stepheng3 (talk) 02:13, 21 August 2010 (UTC)
- It appears that, unfortunately, it is necessary under current conditions. It would be nice to have the non-NRHP PA Historical Markers, City of Pittsburgh historic designations, and PH&LF designations shoehorned into the NRHP infobox, but such non-NRHP listed sites, landmarks and designations are outside of the scope of the NRHP project and infobox, which has been the previous policy for the local designations of other states and cities which have instead been incorporated in the the Historic Sites infobox. A proposal in July, 2010, to incorporate PA historic markers into the Historic Sites infobox was met with resistance because some Historic Sites wikiproject members had issues including PA historic markers because such markers apparently were beyond the scope of how they wanted to narrowly define what a "historic site" is (see the discussion from a month ago with no resolution). Therefore, the only recourse was to create a PA marker infobox under the Pennsylvania wikiproject since non-NRHP listed state and local historic sites in Pennsylvania do not seem to fall within the scope of either project. With that being the case, a new infobox was created to match the NRHP one, both in style and functionality for ease of adoption, as well as for Wikipedia template/article consistency. It is also set up to provide complete customization of the "other designations" so that it could be used for other non-NRHP listings outside of Pennsylvania.
- That said, it could easily be merged with the NRHP one, but that would require opening up the infobox & project (beyond just Pennsylvania) to include non-NRHP designations previously determined to be outside of the project's scope. In the meantime, this infobox fills a needed niche while providing a style that maintains wikipedia consistency, but also avoids the use of the Pale Turquoise nrhp banner color as well as previously defined Historic Sites infobox color patterns. Color change
[edit]I've changed the text color of the Pennsylvania Historical and Museum Commission designation from #66ff35 (neon green) to #ffc94b (yellow) to match PA state color.[1]. I'm not sure why it was neon green in the first place, but maybe there was a good reason.--GrapedApe (talk) 03:54, 7 December 2013 (UTC)
