Template talk:Infobox German Royalty
Appearance
Hello, Quill! I've been planning to create Template:Infobox German Royalty, but you did it before me :) I have two questions regarding the infobox:
- Should we use it for German Emperors and Empresses too, or is it only for Kings and Queens of the Romans?
- Would you consider changing colour of the template? I am aware that black and yellow were colours of the coat of arms of the Holy Roman Empire, but black and yellow are also used in Template:Infobox Bruneian Royalty and Template:Infobox Hanoverian Royalty. Could you consider using black and silver (black and white being colours of the Flag of Prussia)? I've set an example here. This option stands only if we decide to use the same infobox for Kings of the Romans and German Emperors.
Please reply on my talk page. Bye. Surtsicna (talk) 20:06, 2 September 2008 (UTC)
- When I think about it now, we probably should use different infoboxes for German and Prussian Royalty. Otherwise we would not be able to use infobox for Prussian princes and princesses. I've created Template:Infobox Prussian Royalty. What do you think? Surtsicna (talk) 08:41, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- I hate to ruin the party slightly but Royalty does include all forms of monarchy so really German Royalty should be used for monarchs/emperors not infobox prussia... I think a colour change wouldn't be approriate either as yellow is the standard colour of germany. The Quill (talk) 15:01, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- I'm glad we came to agreement. I will copy-paste this discussion to Template talk:Infobox German Royalty. Though I am still not fully convinced that we should use Infobox German Royalty for Emperors; technically Emperors are imperial, not royal. But we won't go into it.Surtsicna (talk) 18:51, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- There is still one problem. Infobox German Royalty cannot be used for children of German Emperors, while Infobox Prussian Royalty can. Surtsicna (talk) 15:31, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- ...and monarch as in Infobox German Royalty|monarch must not be capitalized, otherwise it has no effect (it will still say spouse instead of consort). Surtsicna (talk) 15:51, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Why can't Infobox German Royalty be used for children of German Emperors? They are still German Royalty even if also Prussian Royalty. The Quill (talk) 16:09, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Infobox German Royalty cannot be used for children of German Emperors because only Emperors were German royalty; title German Prince never existed, did it? Children of German Emperors used title Prince(ess) of Prussia and were only Prussian royalty. Surtsicna (talk) 16:41, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
- Good point but still the Emperors should be German Royalty (as should crown princes as well). The Quill (talk) 18:24, 3 September 2008 (UTC)
