Code update
[edit]Hi Drmccreedy, could you update this template with the sandbox code please (diff)?
- Change:
- 1. Add parameter
|alpha4=
, to spread named parameter usage to prevent confusion. Existing parameter|1=
behaviour unchanged. - 2. Clean up comments, rm includeonly (=do not hide core errors). Geok and Geor are both the Georgian scripts per Unicode, full stop ;-)
- 3. Not changed: the list itself.
- 1. Add parameter

Please add names for the three new additions to ISO 15924 earlier this month. Specifically please add:
| Kawi = Kawi | Nagm = Nag Mundari | Sunu = Sunuwar
in the appropriate place alphabetically. VanIsaac, MPLL contWpWS 21:59, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
- I also request this addition (they were formally added on 3 December 2021, along with fixing the missing Unicode property aliases for 4 scripts added to Unicode 14.0 on 9 September 2021, which were forgotten during 3 months in ISO 15924; these changes was published just yesterday even though I had reported them months ago to the ISO 15924/RA via the Unicode bug report; Unicode replied to me only 3 hours ago (2 hours before the revious message posted by WpWS, to inform that the publication of these 4 corrections and 3 additions was made on the website, effective and visible since a few hours at about 19:00 UTC, 7 December 2021). verdy_p (talk) 22:23, 7 December 2021 (UTC)
- To editor Verdy p: is there an edit you want to make? If so, please be explicit. P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 01:06, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- I was explicit... I confirmed this request mde by Isaac, that posted it just as I was already informed by the ISO 15924/RA that my bug request to them was finally published, and then I made the initial additions: Isaac saw my additions when he was trying to complete other missing updated to this dependant (locked) template. I also saw a few minutes later that the template was locked and wanted to post here too, but the message by Isaac was correct, so I just reconfirmed his request and there was nothing more to change. verdy_p (talk) 01:11, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- Okay, thank you then and happy holidays! P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 01:22, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

- To editor VanIsaac: Undone by Drmccreedy. P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 01:36, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- I've reverted your good faith edit. Kawi, Nagm (Nag Mundari), and Sunu (Sunuwar) do not have aliases defined in ISO 15924. While those codes were officially added recently, they are not in Unicode and do not have aliases. See http://www.unicode.org/iso15924/codechanges.html or the normative ISO 15924 data file. Also, the documentation for this template clearly states: "It also is used to determine whether a script is formally present in Unicode. (Script-id has an Alias <==> script is in Unicode)." Again, these aren't (yet) encoded in the Unicode Starndard. DRMcCreedy (talk) 01:40, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
- No problemo, DRMcCreedy. Nothing yet in the "Alias" column. Good to see you're on top of this. Happy holidays to you and yours! P.I. Ellsworth - ed. put'r there 02:30, 8 December 2021 (UTC)

- Thanks Vanisaac for the heads up. @Drmccreedy, Paine Ellsworth, and Verdy p: All looks good now. (I am here because I earlier this year I created/changed these templates, and there is no harm in doling out due compliments :-) . Nice to see that the new setup is workable.
- Essentially, there are four ID's for a script to maintain (see first 4 columns in {{{ISO 15924/overview-4id}}): ISO 15924 code, Unicode Alias, Wikidata QID, enwiki article title. Not all four have to be present. For example, Sunu has no Wikidata QID yet, so shows like "[[:d:|]]" in the table (no problem, is not mainspace; also illustrates that enwiki is ahead of WD ;-) . Addition of three new ISO ID's done.
- Also, there are properties (tied to an ID), like the Wikidata-directionality. These too are in overview-tables to check & maintain etc.
- If you have ideas for improvement or extension, please feel free to write down (in an other thread). -DePiep (talk) 07:35, 8 December 2021 (UTC)
