Possible changes
Maybe we should include the article's author and original language. -- User:Docu
- I spelled out D/F/I and moved these links further up. I first clicked on the internal link to Historical Dictionary of Switzerland.
- The original language can probably be guessed from the topic, so it might not be worth mentionning it.
- Supposedly all entries will be in three languages one day, so it isn't much of a problem to have a few dead links.
- BTW to update the two Bubenberg samples on the same page, one needs to purge the cache after every edit. -- User:Docu
- I like the changes. Thanks! I don't know about the author; we could introduce an additional optional parameter for this; but we don't see author names in references to other encyclopedias either. (Or do we?) I'm not sure what the point of the "original language" info would be, either. Sandstein 08:06, 13 March 2006 (UTC)
- Unfortunately, the original language can not be guessed from the topic, as I just experienced after a few searches. However, it is mentioned on the 'search results' page, and it is probably not that important, as mentioned above. In any case, thanks to Sandstein for a very useful template. HDS template
Hi... I recently came across Template:HDS. Nice work, well done! I wonder if it would be appropriate to include a field for 'URL accessed on date' as well? --BillC 12:46, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- The above comment moved from User_talk:Sandstein. Sandstein 19:30, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have no objections, if you want to code the template so that the access date appears if the parameter is provided.
- In fact, it is only now that I find their citation guidelines (in German). Sigh. Is there any elegant way — I'm calling on the template-savvy people here — that we could implement these without breaking the present uses of the template? Sandstein 19:30, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- I believe I have found a way to add 'date=' and 'author=' fields to Template:HDS while still allowing the correct formatting of existing uses of it. Perhaps you could contact me. --BillC 20:29, 6 May 2006 (UTC)
- Thank you again for these very useful additions to the template. Sandstein 09:26, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
Recent change
Personally, I found it more convenient, when the links to the articles were at the beginning of the template, i.e.:
- Adrian de Bubenberg in German, French or Italian in the online Historical Dictionary of Switzerland.
instead of:
- Adrian de Bubenberg at the online Historical Dictionary of Switzerland in German, French, or Italian
In the new version, I'd tend to click on "Historical Dictionary of Switzerland", instead of the G/F/I links. I'd reinstate the previous sequence, possibly keeping "at" instead of "in". -- User:Docu
- I agree and would also keep "in". The HDS is a publication, not a web address. Sandstein 12:05, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
