The title is mandatory but often there isn't a title

[edit]

I see a lot of red error messages appearing from the use of this template arising from the absence of a title.. Unfortunately many entries in the Qld Gazette don't have a title, they just launch into whatever they have to say, often starting with an address (as if writing a letter) e.g. "Colonial Secretary's Office, Brisbane" or start with "Proclamation", which doesn't distinguish them from most of the entries on the same page which start in the same way. Perhaps the title could be made optional. So long as the page number is there, it is generally fairly easy to find the entry you are seeking. Obviously one could make up a description of the contents in lieu of a title, e.g. "Augustus Charles Gregory appointed Surveyor-General", but the reader won't see that as a title in the actual material so that might be a bit confusing. Maybe the title could be "Summary: Augustus Charles Gregory appointed Surveyor-General" to make it clear that this isn't a title per se. But there has to be something we could do better than producing red error messages for the vast majority of untitled entries in the Qld Gazette. Kerry (talk) 16:57, 22 October 2018 (UTC)[reply]
