Superscript K and M
[edit]What's with the superscript K and M? Doesn't that read awkwardly? Does anyone actually use that stylization? Evaders99 (talk) 00:22, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- Not really... I put those there for three reasons:
- They now (or only for now, not sure) promote as a single group and Exo-K and Exo-M are merely subgroups. So mentioning them together and not under subgroup headings is better. To which subgroup they belong can be taken care of by superscripts or in other words footnotes.
- Such superscripts, for subgroup names and although not for members, have been used on their first EPs and websites like this EXOK
- I noticed that such many superscripts were used in Super Junior discography, a group with same amount of members as in Exo.
- Yes I agree it can be confusing and I cannot even justify why we write Exo and not EXO, and why Shinee and not SHINee. Maybe because 'stylization', in this case the superscript, is not considered of encyclopedic instrest. If you think it is unsuitable, you can revert it. Because what really matters is that our readers don't get confused. :) Farjad0322 (talk) 06:39, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- It really does read awkwardly, as most proper nouns in English do not read that way. I don't see any superscript usage on the Super Junior page nor the Exo main page.
- There are at least two policies against the usage of such stylization, the one against trademarks and similarly Capitalization of words in Roman script. I realize they are talking about Japan-related articles, but it could easily apply here since they promote in Japan. I understand SM Entertainment uses those as "official" spellings, but they go against the grain of proper nouns in English being neither acronyms nor initialisms.
- Just some of my thoughts, I'd be more concerned if this bled into other articles as it doesn't seem the standard way to do it. Evaders99 (talk) 07:00, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
- If it can confuse the readers, it should be reverted... Farjad0322 (talk) 08:11, 29 June 2013 (UTC)
Keeping navboxes in line with Wikipedia policy
[edit]A clean up was performed of this navbox template. No actual links to Wikipedia articles were removed, but please review WP:NAV, the Wikipedia policy for navigation boxes. They are used to provide navigation between similar subjects on English Wikipedia. That is their only purpose. Therefore, the following items should not be included on them:
- Unlinked items (non-notable items)
- Links to sites outside English Wikipedia
- Multiple links to the same article (many navboxes still violate this principle)
- A list of group members if no members are notable (have no articles)
- Explanation about a company's past or which version of an album a song was released on
Please review WP:NAV thoroughly - it's a quick read - for more information and do not re-add items to this navbox which violate it. Thank you and happy editing! Shinyang-i (talk) 08:45, 19 January 2015 (UTC)
