Parameters

[edit]

First parameter

[edit]

This is the year of the establishment without the last digit. Eg for 1923 use 192.

Second parameter

[edit]

This is the last digit of the year. Eg for 1923 use 3.

Third parameter

[edit]

This is the year that immediately preceeds the first year of the decade the year of establishments falls in. Eg for 1923 the first year of the decade is 1920 and so we use 1919.

Fourth parameter

[edit]

This is the year that immediately follows the last year of the decade the year of establishments falls in. Eg for 1923 the last year of the decade is 1929 and so we use 1930. Greenshed 22:17, 11 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How do you define decades

[edit]

A millennium is defined as starting from the year 1 to 1000, 2 to 1000 etc. A century is defined as starting from year 1 to 100 etc. A decade should be defined as starting with the year 1 to 10

The logic used for the template is wrong and should be corrected. Afil (talk) 00:50, 11 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

While I can see that it is not mathematically pure, by common convention the 1920s (for example) comprise the years from 1920 to 1929 inclusive. Greenshed (talk) 00:45, 26 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Sortkey

[edit]

What about the category sorting? How would I define that, for example Category:1957 establishments and Category:1957 disestablishments, get sorted together under the character "#" in Category:1957 and not under "E" and "D" respectively? There doesn't seem to be a parameter for this. Unfortunately I don't have the template programming know-how to incorporate it either. -- œ 02:42, 4 September 2014 (UTC) @Radiojon:[reply]
